My dad was my best friend...we went to football basketball and every home baseball game....may he rest in peace ..he worked 2 jobs to send me to Catholic and LSU...I really didn't realize how hard he worked untill I entered the job market...glad I took the time for him I can never repay him for all that he did for me...

Very cool man, your dad sounded like mine, VERY hard working. My dad was very smart but old school, he taught me a bit about everything, how to do good yardwork, Work on my own vehicle, Welding, carpentry etc... But hey its this time of the year when you can think about those great memories again, its the best time of the year.

Sounds like we have a lot in common bc I also worked with my dad. I'm just glad I had a father like the one I had for the time he was here. Some people don't have that luxury. Some people don't know what it's like to have a great father. I do and am very thankful for it.

Bookmarking this. Because At the end of the year when our tigers are holding up the trophy we will give a little thanks to your pops.

Im also very thankful for having a dad who was my best friend and was there for me like that too. And we dont need no praise man, I just wanted to share some of my dads memory, because he would like that, dad was so passionate for LSU football, dude lived and breathed this stuff, so I just wanted to share why I think my dad will be watching over our tigers and shar a good memory or 2 like you guys are doing here as well for this football season.

So wierd man. My dad and your dad would have hit it off immediately if they would have ever met. I noticed in another post you said he did welding carpentry etc. Mine was also a man of many trades. Welding, carpentry, woodworking. There was nothing he couldn't fix himself. And he was also oldschool. When your describing your dad it's like you describing mine. I keep looking at you post thinking to myself I can't believe he just said that bc mine was the same way. How old was your dad man?

My dad was only 49 almost 50, would be 58 this year and what is funny is that LSU won their first National Title in 1958...

Great story man! I'm always worried about my dad with all these cops being killed for no reason, but the thing is they teach you how be a man. And that is really great you got to share all these experiences with your father, hopefully I can say I shared just as much one day. Hopefully we don't need divine intervention to win the game, but I'm for all the help we can get.

Coach McClendon passed away two days before the 2001 SEC Championship game in which we beat a heavily-favored Tennessee. We lost our starting RB, QB and one CB in the first half but fought back to win.

I've always believed that the Tigers had an extra defensive tackle in that game.

He will be there as he always was. I lost mine 59 years ago and he is with me everyday, he instilled my love of football in me. He was/is the greatest dad ever. God Bless them all.

What kind of a A-hole gives a down vote on a great post like this? I hoping that it's from an Alabama fan, certainly not a LSU fan!

With ya brother! My dad passed away in 2007, too. He passed away from a stroke in November ,2007. It was crazy I was home from college, and we watched the LSU game Saturday and the Rams game Sunday and had an amazing weekend and as soon as I hit the interstate to go home my mom called me and said he collapsed. My only comfort the rest of the year was watching games, and that year LSU won the national championship. That season will always be remembered in my mind as a special season for more than just a championship. And every Saturday is a big event in my house. People around here make fun of me, but to me I am still watching the game with my pops!

Loved the post, and hopefully our dads are watching together brother! Geaux Tigers!

Myself, it was the first season without my dad with me. It was weird for me too, me and my dad watched the crazy Boise St game vs OU and the next day we watched LSU whip up on Notre Dame, we were both sick with the flu, the next day he went to the hospital and it was only a matter of days and he was gone.

I legitimately got a little bit choked up reading that, brother. It's going to be a fun season, no doubt.
