Like College Football - they play the anthem prior to the game, when the players are off the field/court. They’re not supposed to be out there.

I knew you were an idiot. I didn't know you were that big of one. Holy Cow. Fox news is out to make Angel look bad. SEC Doc is black obviously.

As for Football, they are long gone in before the National Anthem. They have always come out right before kickoff. That is a hell of a lot different than running off during the anthem.

Here's some FoxNews headlines from this season:

"Angel Reese is in the WNBA Finals, but her Chicago exit raises questions about her winning mentality"

"Angel Reese's Defensive Player of the Year win looks like WNBA media rewarding its own hype"

"Angel Reese gives Atlanta Dream rebounds and attention, but her offense is still a problem"

There are easily another 25 negative headlines on Fox about Angel. I know they are just pandering to their readers, but their coverage of Angel shows clear bias against her.

Well, the NBA/WNBA rules state that the teams are to be out there for the national anthem. So, where were they??

I'd be more inclined to support Reese if she would set an example for her teammates and follow rules as stated and required?
The WNBA suspended that rule almost ten years ago.

If you're going to cite WNBA rules, you should know the WNBA rules and how they are interpreted by the WNBA.

Has nothing to do with making a player look bad. It is why are they not following the rules/guidelines as stated and required by the league? Why such a deep and wide divide over what people believe, regardless of what side of the aisle they are on?

Do you break rules and laws frequently and have no respect for the law at all? Or are you a good citizen and abide by rules and laws set?

What makes it okay for athletes to break the rules then?

You talking about the rule that went away almost 10 years ago?

Clark was the second-leading scorer on her own team, playing alongside a better scoring guard in Kelsey Mitchell. She also has an All-Star center in Aliyah Boston. Clark's problem is that she is one of the worst defensive players in the league and gets abused on that end of the court. It really limits her team's success.
One single all star and being the second leading scorer makes the team a good situation?
The Fever won the WNBA Commissioner's Cup in 2025.

Of course, Clark did not play in the 2025 WNBA Commissioner's Cup Championship game.

They won the Championship without Clark.

I agree that it's not MANDATED for them to be out there but the WNBA rulebook still explicitly states that they are to stand in a dignified posture. At least for those who make the decision to be there for the anthem.

However, they are setting very bad examples. This is continuing such horrible aggression on both sides.

There's no more "let's just play the game." All the stupid players want to put their own spin on politics, etc just like musicians and actors. When will they ALL learn to shut their mouth and just do what you are paid to do.

Every game the football team plays they are out on the field for warmups, then they go back to the locker room and stay there during the national anthem. They do EXACTLY the same thing that the WNBA teams are doing. It didn't "garner attention" because it is all part of the FoxNews agenda to try to make Angel look bad.

I'm sorry, but this is just completely false. You're trying to paint a narrative while ironically insinuating that fox paints a narrative. One that no one needs. Because Angel Reese does that for herself. It's not like it's CNN where they take half of an interview and stop mid sentence and then tell you what they meant so you don't figure it out for yourself. LMAO
For the record, Fox and CNN are both a joke.
LSU football is already in the locker room when the anthem plays. That’s just their normal pregame routine and has been for years. They don’t walk off when it starts. It’s timing, not a protest.

The WNBA teams (including Angel Reese’s) are already out on the court warming up, then they leave or walk off right before the anthem and come back after. That started as a protest in 2020 and some of them still treat it that way.

Saying these two things are “exactly the same” is just wrong. One is pure logistics that’s been going on forever. The other is a deliberate choice with a protest history. Pretending they’re identical is comical.

I don't disagree with your opinion. I would prefer that all athletes stand for the anthem appropriately. Let's face it, the vast, vast majority of football and basketball players at the college and pro levels are Democrats. Singling out the WNBA players, particularly Angel, for not being present for the anthem is disingenuous. Some people want to bash the WNBA and Angel for not being out for the anthem, then excuse the LSU football team, and other teams, for their absence. It just shows the bias and desperation to slander Angel.

The explicit rule in the WNBA rulebook has been suspended.

Purple glasses. Both teams have walked out as the National anthem starts. Whi cares which media reports it? Doesn't change the fact that it has happened 3 times. WNBA condones the action. And for the record, I didn't hear about it on Fox. And LSU'S football team and the opponent are in the locker room for 5 to 10 minutes before the anthem is played.
