You should live where the stereotypical behavior is prevalent before you assume you're better than those who do.

As a point of reference I loved it when I moved out west and learned that stereotyping Mexicans or Asians is fine, that's not racism since they aren't black. Nice...Two Wongs doesn't make a white.

Also keep in mind that the Rant is also a magnet for serial napalm posters.

In all honesty, it's because we've had to deal with the same crap for 3 years. That's all. There wouldn't be nearly as much hate if it was a one year and done thing, but we've had to sit here and watch JJ and JL go back and forth, f up, succeed, f up again, squeak by, and all the myriad other things. Though the last few years have been pretty successful for our team, it's hard to see such a glaring weak spot on the team and accept it. If we had a better quarterback last year, we probably would have gone to the BCS championship game. As so many analysts said, we were "adequate quarterback play away from being a national title contender."

People see JL with 14 Tds and 3 picks, having led the Tigers to an undefeated season prior to JJ being reinstated. There was no controversy prior to the reinstatement. It was JL's team. Now, it's JJ's somehow. I don't pretend to understand the reasoning. Nor do I particularly care, other than I think it's pretty poor treatment of a kid who's done nothing but the right thing his entire career at LSU. As long as we win, I'm happy. But these are the reasons you see all this hate.

Plus, I'm sure some of it is racial. Just saying.

And to clarify, on the race issue, I don't think EVERYONE bases their support of JJ or JL on race. Of course their are logical folks that weigh ability and production. But as an outsider, it appears that it drives a lot of the discussion.

WH,
I've been an LSU fan since before most of Tiger Rant posters were born. Sadly, you nailed it. Can't disagree on a single point. Not only do so many of our fans attack their own team's players, but boo them at games. It is the one criticism all other team's fans make that is undeniably true.

Also, as you can see from most of the responses, a majority of those here come here to insult and attack, not offer intelligent dialogue.

But I will support this team whatever may come. Can't say same for many of my fellow fans.

BTW, I went out to Washington for LSU's game there a couple of year's ago. I was pretty impressed with Locker's passing that game. Maybe that was one of his better outings, don't know. Hope you enjoy going to the next game.

I'm trying to educate those folks too.

Just get in line, and I'll get to work on you when I can.

to be fair, uga fans booed crowell on saturday.

you are spot on the race card. the idiots will say its bs, but these were the same people calling for flynn over jamarcus.

Something that geys brought up a lot is the 2 qbs that won were white. which really has nothing to do with it, but some people see a black qb and automatically assume hes not smart.

also dont pretend the south is the only people that are racist. ive spent time in san diego, the diff is its not directed to african ameticans, because there are none.

LSU is not alone in having dumbass fans that post anti-player BS on message boards. It's pretty much common everywhere. Particularly when you don't have a standout starter.

It's like people took sides on the QBs early and will never give the other side a legit look.

But, yes, they are very young men who want nothing more than to succeed at QB and bring wins to LSU. The hate/name calling is just from very ignorant people who hide behind computer monitors.

Agree with this.

I was at the 2005 Arizona State game and 2 dudes behind me, both LSU fans started getting in a fight over what?!

Whether Plaquemines was a parish (Louisiana's version of counties) or a city.....it's both....just not located in the same place.

Well, needless to say words escalated into punches. We're a passionate, yet illogical/emotional fan base.

Well, when you have posts like this:

quote:

Les Miles is a F'in prick and a complete dumb a-- even if LSU 10-0 - JL should take a stand and just quit - Playing JJ tonight for the length of time he played was "not about the team" - go frick yourself Les!!!

and others wanting JL to give Les the finger on tv on Senior Day, it's hard for people to see a rational debate taking place.

Simply because you lack the cognitive ability to think beyond your preprogrammed little box. It has to be racism, doesn't it?

I sincerely doubt that you'll find much race-based justification for one or the other on this site. That stuff gets whacked pretty quick.

To be fair, the vast majority seem to base their feelings on production, but I'm sure there are some that don't, which can be said about most any fanbase and issue.

alot of people didnt like russel when he played at lsu . befor you complain about what we do, ask your self if uw's qb only threw for 32 yards a game and clearly made desicions that could cost your team the game, if the rest of the team wasn't so good

Husky,

Always appreciate constructive criticism from an honest outsider.

Our fan base is so emotionally-invested in our Tigers, it's both an asset and a curse.

But all in all, it is what makes this fanbase so passionate and Tiger Stadium the most special venue for college football in the country.

I bet you will agree after you come to the game. Be sure to stop by some tailgate parties before the game. Our fans will "Tiger Bait" you and then share some of the best food you've ever tasted with you.

And, lucky for you, it's a non-conference game, so ESPN (not CBS) will probably televise it, and you will get to witness the full glory of a Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, and it just don't get any better than that.

Be sure to get back to us with your honest critique after we kick y'all's arse.

You're right. We shouldn't turn on JJ. He is what he is and has talents and weaknesses. The problem is the misuse of his QB talents by the coaches and offensive coordinator(s). When he is in the game we should project a real and credible threat that he will take off with the ball on a keeper on virtually every plan (whether he does or not). But they have used in such a way that that threat is largely absent most of the time (e.g., straight drop backs). That running threat made a big difference in the first Alabama game and it could make a big difference in the second one.

We had Locker. Yes, occasionally he would have great games. He was an absolute best. Ran a 4.5 at 6'4". But he put up stinkers on a regular basis. Overthrew wide open WRs. And our team struggled (mainly because of Jake's inadequacies). Our current QB (a sophomore) basically lit it up this year, with nearly the exact same supporting class that Jake had.

But you know what. We all still love Locker, because he's a Dawg, and we wish him success in the NFL.

2 of our favorite and most popular quarterbacks in the past 20 years were black (Rohan Davey and Herb Tyler). Don't come on some message board and read a couple posts and think you have a whole group of people figured out. Isn't that what northerners are supposed to understand by being open-minded and not STEREOTYPING?
