That’s not really a lie. Fields didn’t really do shite at Georgia

Miles is too indecisive for my tastes. This offense is built on timing. You make the read and let it rip. He has a hitch in his delivery. He throws late. It's pretty obvious when you look at the film objectively. I don't think he's a bad QB by any means, but he is what he is.

Finley, while being a pocket passer is a big strong kid who's a threat to actually keep it on the read option. No one is worrying about Myles running the ball. That hurts the run game, especially when you don't use a blacking back. The only stat that counts is wins.

Yep. Do you not remember him against LSU?

Also, he hasn't looked that good at OSU against good defenses.

Some good points, but if it’s even close, you go with the true freshman, and that is especially true with the modern day transfer rules. Ask Georgia about the situation we are in

Did you see Justin Fields play yesterday?

Finley may be a pro QB one day, but he is nowhere near Justin Fields, both in terms of his athleticism and ceiling. With the way the NFL is going in terms of style of the game, Fields is poised for a long successful NFL career.

As far as the OP, The difference in playcalling is all I need to see to know that not only is Finley not nearly on Brennan's level, the coaches don't think so either. Finley has a hell of a short passing game, but that's about it. His deep ball is wildly inaccurate, he is not mobile enough to make up for a lack of accuracy, and he needs to take some zip off the ball in some instances. The coaches let Brennan go out and rip it because they trust him. We were running a SLOW offense yesterday to get Finley in a rhythm and chew the clock.

Finley got some very valuable reps yesterday, but as long as Brennan is here, he is the guy. If he wants to transfer, Max Johnson seems like he has a ton of upside as well. We are not in a position in which we need to have a QB go through growing pains for 2 years and in his 3rd year win a title. We have another shot to win it all in 2021, and I want Brennan back there for that.

EDIT - I re read my post and it comes off as negative towards Finley. I think he will be the starting QB in 2022 if he stays put. And I think he will have a lot of success in that role. I just don't think he is there yet. He was extremely impressive yesterday for a freshman, but if you told me that he was all we had at QB, this year would be predicated on keeping his threshold for mistakes low and building his confidence. That's not want you want when you have another option who is ready to lead the team.

There were at least 4 15+ yard plays (3 20+) that were strikes.

He had one pass rolling out for a decent chuck of yards that he threw on a frozen rope that I thought was his best pass of the night.

That RPO that he hit the post on was beautiful. I sure liked Finley. His poise was great, and he did what they asked him to do. He is nowhere near ready to take the reins from Brennan, but if Brennan wasn’t here next season I’d feel optimistic with Finley.
