Alright. Pick a side. Who's on team Kelly? Who's on team LSU?

This is our 'rock-bottom' nowhere to go but up. Team LSU.

Maybe.
I still think LSU should fight. Kelly was basically stealing from us, even if it was legal.

I’m on team get this settled at 35m soon

I really don’t care, but even if it’s unethical to get out of the contract there couldn’t be anyone less deserving of that money than Brian Kelly.
Verge might not be the guy but every passing day I am more happy with firing Scott Woodard.

I am team LSU but unless we have evidence of a contract breach that we are willing to go public with, we need to just pay what we agreed to pay when the contract was signed.
1) it looks terrible and why would any other coach sign a big contract with us if they think we will try to screw them in the end?
2) If LSU did go public with dirt, it'll look bad because he didn't get fired for misconduct, he got fired for losing. This would mean that they knew about misconduct and did nothing about it until he lost football games.
The whole thing is a mess.

I personally think LSU is in no rush to settle for anything more than $35m or so.
Just pay him $800k/mo per the contract. If he’s in a big hurry to get lump sum cash up front and mitigation waived, then he’s gonna have to play ball and make the number worth LSU’s while.
LSU is in no hurry to make a big $40-$45m lump sum payment when it doesn’t have to.

To be honest, I feel like the only who is pissed at him.
I believe he came down here with the mindset to coast and to take advantage of "ignorant southerners". Every leak from people inside the program saying he didnt even know players names is incredible malpractice.
He was barely around and making 10mil a year. Calling us spoiled etc...
I think LSU has every right to fight Brian Kelly in court and I hope they win.

Right.
Is a judge really going to believe the "Winningest coach in CFB" couldn't find a job?

You can’t steal that which is given to you.
It was a dumb contract, even if only in retrospect. And LSU agreed to it.

The only person on Team Kelly is his wife. BK, that mfker, was in semi-retirement. He has screwed LSU since Daniels left. I hope the State pays him the minimum.

At this point, both look dumb

A contractor charges you thousands upfront for agreed upon renovations to your house. Then shows up only a few times and does the shittiest job possible... then sues you for the remaining balance.
I'd think you'd be in the right to negotiate less.

This current shite show doesn't happen with Woodward still at his job. He would have given more buyout money to BK to tell him to frick off. Everyone here (including me) would be blasting Woodward for paying him so much, but he knew the time to fire a coach for cause is when you find out about the allegations. You can't do it later b/c the coach is sucking at his job.
The reality is that the people handling this in Woodward's absence are causing damage to the LSU brand that is far greater than the money they might save on the buyout.

I'm always on team LSU. Which is why allowing this to look like such a crap pisses me off.

If your contract said “just come do some ambiguously-defined contractor stuff and if I need to terminate you I’ll pay you anyway”, I’d say you probably don’t have much to stand on.
And understand, I’m not saying LSU shouldn’t contest this and try to pay as little as possible, I’m saying Kelly isn’t exactly wrong for asking for what was in his contract.
