If this fact pointed out by the OP is indeed true, then Alleva better start thinking about his next job.

I don't care what gets him fired but it needs to happen fast. The thought of him making the next basketball hire is scary.

I do agree LSU is a football school, that is obvious.

However, Alleva should be evaluated on many things, and certainly, his basketball coaching hires have left a lot to be desired. Knowing his horrible track record, I can't imagine anything would be different when Jones departs (probably) following this season.

I wonder if Alleva really understands what a real coaching search involves. He has not shown that he does.

But for many reasons, I would welcome Alleva leaving LSU as soon as possible.

So what do the money guys say Jones has to accomplish this year to lose his job? Miss the tourney? Miss the NIT? Go less than 500 in SEC?

I don't think the LSU team is a NCAA tourney team by any means, but Jones seems to have teams that under perform with high expectations and over perform when hopes are low. It is possible the team could make the NIT, but my hopes are not high at this point. LSU has a relatively easy SEC schedule in a weak SEC. They play Kty, FL, and SC once each. They play TX A&M twice. These four teams are arguably the strongest teams in SEC.

Also, I read that Jenkins may be able to contribute near the end of December. Rumors are that he can play either guard spot and may be one of the quickest guards on team.

Jones may be the limiting factor on how well the team performs again.

If hiring a dline coach who's only true head coaching job was an absolute failure in a sport that actually generates revenue for the school didn't get him thrown out on his arse, then there's nothing that can happen with our pathetic excuse for a basketball program that'll make it happen.

He'll get another job. He's a big reason why our athletics department is in the shape it's in. His direct hires have sucked except for Beth Torina. And I chalk that hire up to a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then.

F King, I believe. I'm sure the BoS has a huge hand in handling it and the next hire.

Alleva's bosses don't care about basketball.

Nor do those in positions of power outside the administration to make a difference or most anybody truth be told and that discourages me.

And those of any influence who do care got CJJ hired.

If the implosion last year wasn't enough proof I fear you may be correct. We are picked to finish 12th in the SEC this year and I can't help but think CJJ and Alleva are pleased with that. We finish 9th and it's will be trumpeted as a significant overachievement sufficient progress to stay the course.

And we ain't picked 12th because of relative talent in this shite conference...people saw that embarrassment last year and that pick reflects they don't think our leadership can lead this team to achieve to the relative level of talent.

LSU is one of a handful of universities whose athletic department is in the black (making money). As long as this stands, Alleva is doing his job successfully, from the administrators point of view.

from speaking with money folks,

please. So they let Alleva hire a caveman to run the football program, the program that makes LSU a lot of money, and will let his fate be decided by a program no one gives a shite about????

Bumping this topic from early December. Alleva should not be allowed to make another hire. Jones' ship is taking on water and I hope TAF is paying attention.

Worse would be if Alleva is fired and his replacement screws with the football coaching setup, could really be bad, really bad

Alleva will live or die with the O hire period.

Jones won't be fired after this season no matter how bad it gets and it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

Football runs shite around here. Jones is safe if LSU doesn't win another game. And that could happen
