The basketball program is already dead. We're viewed as the bottom of a weak conference. The issue now is "how do we resurrect it?"

Identify, pay, and sell your job to the candidate. I witnessed great times with Tiger basketball. It's a sleeping giant. We spend all this money except on the most important ingredient, the coach.

Hire a real basketball coach. It ain't that hard.

Who here really trust Alleva to make the next hire.

Alleva won't be here by the time Jones is fired.

Down fall? You say that as if it can fall even further. I think it's at rock bottom now.

Dude....

Brady had two..count em two teams worth a damn....and they both choked.

Johnson had Marcus Thornton carry him to a tourney and that was it

Jones had O'bryant....martin and mickey...Simmons and the rest....all of the teams underachieved....but still...what are we expecting from a program without a strong base of athletes born here that actually stay for one and for two can attract other big names to come here to play...its been since the 06 final four since this program had any real national recognition that was positive about the place we were in, and we fired the coach of that team a season later....until LSU goes out and gets a top level coach, promotes and spends more on basketball as a whole, and i mean its fighting softball for 3rd place in our minds honors behind Football and baseball in all truth....and more than anything, actually starts being relevant to the high end blue chips that are all NOT even close to thinking about LSU after what they saw Simmons do here...then it is what it is..a bad team in a bad league lucky to make a tournament or two per decade of significance. The days of being more than a mediocre program that is last in the minds of the large majority of LSU fans went out the window the day the fired John Brady and didn't replace him with a real coach the first chance they had...nope....alleva went with a guy who had the lopez twins carry him to a sweet 16 and then here we are almost a decade of irrelevance later....and its only going to get much much worse before it ever gets better sad to say. I never thought id miss the days of jaimie lloreda, Brandon bass, and for gods sake the big baby's and taz mitchells to be the golden standard once again...at least those teams were fun to watch....

It seems to be hard for JA who chose simply to pull the lowest lying fruit and say, we tried....when in fact we really did not.

I'm with you a good coach can make a difference but I don't think we have the folks in place right not to identify and get one and sadly not enough folks care enough to demand it in hoops, and the ones who did care enough to demand anything demanded a hire of their friend and buddy, and did not really have the best interests of the program at heart.

Did any of you self appointed genius's actually watch the Houston game? Do any of you that keep talking about we're in the bottom of the conference ever look at won/loss stats and compare us with other teams in the conference?

Number one all of those under achieving teams are considered that because of the talent on the team that didn't jell and had no chemistry. There were a bunch of selfish players on those teams that were more interested in NBA careers than playing for LSU. And I don't just mean Simmons.

Secondly CJJ is the one that brought the talent here which despite the assertions to the contrary is not easy. Who here thought that Quarterman had a chance to be a pro after his freshman season? Why did Hornsby pick LSU as the school he wanted to transfer to? Who in the world had ever heard of Duop Reath?

It is a talent to recognize good players that are under the radar. It is another to have them all suppress their egos and play as a team on defense as well as offense. CJJ has been great at the first and lacking at the second.

There is a difference in the team this year, with possibly the exception of one player. They seem to want to work and play hard and win games the old fashioned way with defense and rebounds. Give them a chance. Support your team.

LSUMBB under JJ is NOT at the bottom of the SEC. (JJ's pay is near the bottom but his teams' performances are not.) We have finished in the top 5 of the league for the last three years. 2015-16 was a disaster because JJ nor anyone on his staff knew how to handle that unusual situation. But we still finished third in the SEC even in a disaster year, relatively speaking.

I'll wait until we know how this season is going to turn out to call for JJ to be fired.

I'm not saying La has more talent than Florida. But there is plenty enough good talent in this state to compete with. The problem is that they keep leaving the state to play for other teams.

Five of the top seven players are from Louisiana. They have mostly been starters and seen lots of playing time when they don't start.
