'm going to opposite of this actually.
Joe Alleva is the savior for not settling and letting us become Virginia Tech, Miami, or Texas.
agreed

LSU built Nick Saban as well

Even if the new hire fails miserably, the decision to fire Miles is the right one. No one enjoys Music City Bowls and general offensive incompetence. The potential for better is worth it. At this point, doing worse than Miles' recent record is unlikely, and even if it happens, what's the real difference between 5-7 and 7-5? I'd rather miss a bowl than have a Tuesday afternoon Bowl game on a non-Holiday. I'm missing the bowl anyway if it's in that timeslot.

Alleva should take shame and blame with how this has been handled. Not the action itself. There is a difference.

He deserves it. Isnt he the one that gave Miles the 15 million buyout when everybody knew Miles wasnt going to Ar-kansas.
If its not a home run hire, he needs to be fired right away.

Several schools I won't mention thought their hires were sure fire. Hasn't been to good for them. Don't know why anyone thinks LSU can just any coach they want. The longer it takes to make a hire if Miles is gone the worse shape the program will be in.

Poor kid...I remember Coach DiNardo having keys to the city for getting us in the Poulan Weed-eater Independence Bowl.

Now that he has taken the lead in firing Miles.
This is the worst decision in LSU history. We will hire someone far worse.
an optimist I see.

If he pulls off Fisher while keeping the # 1 class, he's earned his keep.

If firing Les leads to firing Alleva I think LSU wins, but I could be wrong

When Miles started LSU was loaded....he definitely rode that horse to victory. He didn't do anything spectacular but also didn't screw the pooch. He was a good coach for LSU but every good run comes to an end....even Alabama's will one day.

I couldn't disagree with you more. Joe Aleva is NOT sitting in an ivory tower calling the shots or shooting from the hip. He is advised (sometimes told) what to do by highly influential people who have a stake in the business that is LSU.
This head coaching change is not nor has it ever been a spur of the moment idea.
Now, does LSU have a coach ready to go and replace Miles? I don't know, but I hope so.
On the other hand, if this carefully orchestrated regime change blows up in LSU's face, then Leva will be the fall guy because that goes with the territory of being AD.
The goal is to protect and grow the LSU brand, and to do that, the product must shine, and football hasn't shined for at least two years and no improvement is seen in the horizon.
Something or someone has got to give. This is not a wait and see moment. LSU's powers that be have already moved beyond that.
