The A&M game moving to Thursday is the SEC's decision, nothing to do with CBS. Whether the following A&M game will be a Friday/Saturday game is a CBS decision and always has been.

That's precisely what I'm asking. Why is the game able to be moved to a day that CBS can't/won't televise out of CBS's hands and solely the discretion of the SEC, and the return game CBS's decision?

Why aren't both games' days and times being governed by the CBS contract? Why is CBS seemingly willing to give up such a marketable game on that Friday when they are paying the SEC an assload of money to have first choice?

quote:

You might have a problem with the Friday game, but LSU has never had an issure with it.

That's false. LSU (Saban) most certainly had an issue with it, and bitched about it in his passive aggressive way quite a bit while here. As per the usual, the SEC ignored LSU's wishes. When they moved the Iron Bowl to Friday, Saban bitched again and wouldn't you know it, the SEC agreed and moved the LSU game back to Friday and the IB back to Saturday.

No A&M and and Joe Alleva both said the aggies wanted to and requested to play on Thursday. The SEC didn't move it until after that

I haven't seen the entire conference schedule, is there a game setup for the Friday time-slot?

Because the SEC moved the game to Thursday. Just like in 2011 we played MSU on a Thursday, CBS didn't have an option to show the game.

Are you actually suggesting that CBS is not the driving force behind the Friday game? That wasn't LSU & Arky's doing. That was CBS saying they wanted to televise a game that day, and LSU & Arky were tapped.

Seems odd they would be ok either willingly passing, or being told they can't have an arguably bigger match-up... In this scenario, CBS loses 50% of the ad revenue from this series by not televising this game in College station every other year.

In 2014? No. Thanksgiving game which will be televised by ESPN and then the slate of games on Saturday. No CBS game on Friday. They'll show the Iron Bowl on Saturday as usual, but nothing on Friday.

Again, unless CBS decides to double dip on Saturday and play two games, they will be losing one game that week.

and keep in mind both parties agreed. I'm sure the SEC leaned on both to go along because it meant another paycheck from CBS, but it benefited both LSU and Ark in the 90's at a time when both programs wanted another national game.

It was obvious CBS saw the slot and wanted a good matchup there. Aub-Bama and the Florida-F$U game (mammoth in the 90's) were already expected to be prime Saturday matchups. LSU-Ark knew we'd be getting the 2nd rate crew CRAIG BOLLERJACK & CO, but still it allowed a national audience without competing with the heavy Saturday lineup.

What? I never even suggested that. It's solely CBS' decision to flex that game for the Friday slot.

I'm not privvy to the contract or negatiations that take place when the SEC creates the schedule, but it looks like you just pointed out the moving that game to Thanksgiving is obviously the SEC's decision and not CBS's.

I just don't get the outrage here. Were people this upset when we played MSU on a thursday night a couple years ago or is this strictly becuase it's thankgiving combined with the fact that you aren't happy with LSU playing on friday.

Or they could show another game on Friday.

So what did the SEC give Joe Alleva in return? Did Joe get a guarnteed Saturday night game with A&M, no.

Are you saying that the SEC told Joe Alleva that you are playing Thanksgiving Night in College Station, and you'll get no favors in return?

Joe said that he agreed to the game. I think Joe basically said to the SEC, "Thank you sir, may I have another."

It was a one game deal, and that Thursday wasn't a holiday where your entire family gets together for a good meal. This A&M thing will be permanent.

It's been answered in this thread.

Why do you think it was possible to get this?

I'm saying I don't know what went on in the negotiatons and neither do you.

You sure about that? The SEC will be meeting again to format the 2016 schedule. Also I wouldn't be surprised if SECtv is one of the reasons this game will be played on thanksgiving.

Not really. In years where you only have 1 bye week we would have to play 11 straight weeks without a bye. 11 straight games isn't necessarily a recipe for keeping your team healthy.

Huh

In a year where we play A&M there, but the schedule only has room for 1 bye, we would have to play weeks 1-11, take our bye in week 12, and play A&M on Thursday. How is that advantageous to us? That is the recipe for a worn out football team, and our traditional bye before Bama would be gone. Remember how we looked against Georgia in the SEC Championship in 2005? Thats probably how we would look at the end of the 11 game run.

Oh, so if you ask real nice, the SEC and CBS just magically make room for you for a Saturday night game?

BS

Neither team will have a SEC game on Saturday and then play Thursday. It'll be a weak OOC team that Saturday before.

Really disappointed in how many sandy vags have become LSU fans, rather pitiful

I can understand some of the normal bitching re uneven scheduling and such but this has gone overboard

In a normal year, the SEC will give you 5 gaps in your schedule, you fill in your 4 non-conf games and decide your bye week. So it's feasible we'll get a non-conf "bye" that week, schedule a cupcake and keep the bye week earlier in the year.

Just curious, how many season tickets do you hold? Away games do you make it to on average?
