Hmmm, in other threads, you said that there was no way that Miles would leave for lowly Arkansas. In fact, you were so confident that you promised to superglue your cock to your leg if it happened. Hence, it certainly appears as if you were of the opinion that Arkansas did not present a realtic threat to purloin away Miles.
And yet now you say "What bluff"?
Well sir, the Arkansas bluff, the one you wagered your penis on.

great way to put it. i, too, have signed the front and know the value of productivity. paying miles to stay is a no brainer. i'd rather pay a little too much for productivity than throw away money on the non productive.

i still haven't heard anything regarding a "bluff" by Miles. Perhaps you can put all this info together for me and tell me what i'm missing.

What your missing, of course, is the power of deduction.
If Miles had immediately told Alleva that he had absolutely no intention of taking the Arkansas offer, then Alleva wouldn't have given him a raise, right? There would have been no leverage that required a raise, in that instance.
Hence, we can deduce - special word - that Miles must have either remained silent on his intentions or given some indication that he was seriously considering the Arkansas proposal.
And THAT would be the bluff, since - as you agree - Miles never really intended to accept the Ark job.

I just want to be clear. Is it really your position that the unspecified raise that Miles recieved today was completely unrelated to the Arkansas offer and that Miles and his agent never used that offer as leverage in negotiations?

What ever happened to living up the contract you are under?? And yes, I have signed both the front and back of pay checks.

Did it speed it up? Prolly, but he was getting a raise no matter what, hasn't gotten one since 2007. Have no problem with it at all.
I would hope that no one really thought he was gonna leave LSU for arky, that's just silly.

It's funny as hell that everyone here is talking about the fact that Miles was due an upcoming raise as if it was common knowledge. What happened? One person on here mentioned it and now everyone is talking as if the whole world knew about it. Why weren't there multiple threads about this yesterday?

A. No, not fast food
B. Yes, I have gotten a raise that I did not ask for and have given people raises they didnt ask for.
C. You sound like you would not be surprised and agree to when the contractor tells you your $300,000 house being built is now going to cost you $400,000.00
GTFO? have a nice day
Miles wasnt going to Arky anyway

It may be a shock but the Rant is not privy to information about contract hiring and negotiations in real time. Maybe that perk is available as a Platinum service. By the time it shows up here it is old news. Carry on...

Under either scenario, Aleva failed.
Posted on 11/28/12 at 5:40 pm to TigerBait2008
The only problem I have is that Miles didn't win the SEC or BCSNC, those should be the only two things to get a raise, he had a good year and his current contract is enough for that, now if he has a bad year can we renegotiate and pay him less?

And you had faith in him to go out and make a good hire?
But in all reality. He was getting the raise regardless. he hasnt had one since 07. He deserved it. hes dedicated to LSU. You cant put a price on that. Longest tenured coach since cholly mac. Stability at the top is actually more important than some of you think.
