That said, I am quite certain that Ford or Davenport are not involved.

For what it's worth, Akiem Hicks DID play one game this year.
It was debunked in this thread earlier.

if an assistant coach has the balls to hide something like that from a head coach then its clear that coach made a bad hire and he doesnt have control of his assistants.
Yeah, so Major League Baseball players tell their GMs and coaches that they used steroids (a performance booster allowing them to make more money). When a player fails the test, all the blame goes on the GM and coach for "lack of control". Joe Torre must be a horrible coach because he absolutely had no control in the Manny situation. Get real dude. You don't just blatantly tell your manager/coach that you cheated to help you get better results, accolades, and money from performance bonuses.
On another note, I seem to remember on NSD and the days afterward all of the Benton/Randle speculation on the Rant and Recruiting Board. Everyone was saying Randle's dad or Benton (I forget which) only would allow for one of the two to go to LSU (i.e. if Randle committed, Benton would back out and head elsewhere, or vice versa). Dmitch came on the board and said that the situation really wasn't anything like that, and everyone was on the wrong track, and that the true story would leak out someday. Maybe this is it -- the Benton apartment situation.
Or I could be completely off base.

I'm no lawyer, but on page 33 of the PDF of Miles Contract (contract page 15 of 21) it states under Termination for Cause:
16. "Commission of or participation in by COACH of any criminal or other serious misconduct which brings COACH into public disrepute suffcient to impair COACH'S ability to continue in his position without adverse impact on the UNIVERSITY'S football program or reputation"
After the Ole Miss debacle...we might HAVE an out already!!!!
Also, on page 29 (11 of 21)it states:
"At no time during the duration of this agreement or pursuant to any extension or salary adjustment granted under the authority specified herein, the amount of compensation owed to the COACH shall not exceed Ten Million Dollers No/00($10,000,000) dollars. Said amount shall be payable in equal monthly installments over the remaining term of this agreement and discounted by the amounts received after termination" ( ie..less whatever he gets from a new job)
16. "Commission of or participation in by COACH of any criminal or other serious misconduct which brings COACH into public disrepute suffcient to impair COACH'S ability to continue in his position without adverse impact on the UNIVERSITY'S football program or reputation"

10 million isn't nearly as bad as 18. So his buyout is $10M, right?

Who cares what his buyout is at this point. He isn't going anywhere, nor does he deserve to right now.
In December 2010, we can all talk about his buyout if necessary, but for now it's pointless to even discuss.

That's the old part of the contract. That section has since been amended. I think it currently stands at 15.75 mill, with a recommendation or change (to be approved) to not exceed ~18mil.
But like mentioned, it's irrelevant at this point.

Again, I am not a lawyer but it seems to me that they capped his buyout at $10MM.
Let it be known I am not a "Miles has to go" fan. I think he needs the chance to fire Crowton and get Sean Payton in here to run the offense

I'm pretty sure you are correct. It is b/w $15-16Mm.

DJ was not fired right away for legal reasons. They needed to conduct an investigation into the allegations before he could be fired (contractual). The internal investigation was concluded, and all information gleened has been forwarded to the SEC.
This makes sense.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a stickied thread with such a high percentage of crap in it before.
Then again, my memory is not all that good.

Why was he allowed to recruit for the '10 class if all this was pending? You wouldn't allow an employee who is facing a termination for cause hearing to continue working on a large project..

1) If nothing comes from it, you don't want to lose time. You assume innocence.
2) DJ didn't know that they were on to him.
3) Monitoring him to see if he tried anything else.
All three are sheer speculation on my part.
