When it comes to this alleged temporary housing arrangement (presumably until guys get qualified), I don't see how Les is unaware of the situation. It almost sounds too risky (or just plain stupid) to be true, but even the Advocate's story hints that the violations were centered around McCarthy, Hicks, and possibly Benton.
I wonder how this will impact Oklahoma State and Auburn as well.

i agree and if he knew about this earlier, why keep DJ around? fire him on the spot. i guess they can say they waited to get the facts before firing him....

I have heard a wild rumor, that warrants little more merit than the time it takes to type, that Trooper is tied into this.
Rumor comes from an Aubbie fan, who I don't know to be connected at all.
Seems as valid as all the other rumors being tossed around, though.

has he already been fired? I know he is supposed to be, i didn't realize it has happened yet....
Pretty sure he has been, although much like last year they will likely never come out and say "he was fired." He will merely move on to another coaching opportunity.

Please summarize the rumors involving Trooper, if you don't mind Roaad. Since it has nothing to do with LSU, I don't see how posting rumors about an Auburn coach would be an issue.

Also, I don't buy the apartment stuff ... There's got to be more to that, as in they were getting the apts and either A)were not qualified yet or B)getting free room and board while being recruited, which is illegal.
These kids get free room and board and meals as part of their scholarship. Seems stupid to help with paying for something they get legally for free anyway.
If you're going to cheat, buy them a car or give them cash. No sense in helping pay for an apartment which can easily be part of the scholarship anyway.

You do realize that under Saban, LSU reported several "minor violations" that they reported themselves on to the NCAA. They also then gave a report on what they were going to do to fix the problems. LSU never received any further restrictions by the NCAA. This is pretty routine.
A coach paying for an apartment for a kid is NOT a minor infraction.

Supposedly it was while he qualified, when he couldn't be living on campus supposedly

And pretty much all apartments are nicer than dorm rooms.

Offered him a penthouse overlooking Toomer's corner.

If you look at the guys associated with the apartment rumors, they all have something in common: they were not academically qualified at the time. Therefore, they couldn't receive the benefits that student athletes receive, such as free on-campus housing, etc. Presumably, this was a benefit that lasted until a guy was qualified.
I can see how Trooper is involved for the same reason (with Benton).
This is all inference on my part.

yep, and that's what concerns me about all of this

How would that be? I'm totally not getting the connection.
Regarding Trooper Taylor, Taylor was at Oklahoma State before going to Auburn (this is his first year at Auburn).
Dexter Pratt ended up at Oklahoma State. Benton ended up at Auburn. The dots certainly connect.... Taylor is dirty.

LINKTrooper Taylor, the co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach at Oklahoma State in 2008, is in his first season as assistant head coach and wide receivers coach at Auburn.
Prior to his stint at Oklahoma State, Taylor was on staff at Tennessee from 2004-07, where he served as receivers coach from 2006-07 and running backs coach in 2004-05. From 2005-07 he was also the assistant head coach/player development.
