I’m creating my all time LSU football team from ‘07-‘19 and realized some choices were difficult. Of course I have Burrow & Fournette behind center and OBJ & Jarvis as wideouts. But on defense the hardest decision was either Jamal Adams or Grant Delpit at safety. Also if picking a 4-3 defense where do you put Tyrann Mathieu? Some other touch choices were...
Keke Mingo or Arden Key
Tre White or Greedy Williams
Sam Montgomery or Danielle Hunter

Run a base Mustang on D. DBs for days.

?nd if Burrow’s the QB, gotta roll with at least 3 WRs if not 4. Let Ja’Marr eat.

All time team? From 2007-2019? They're all just pups.

All-time from ‘07-‘19 seems a little meh to me. However, you’d be remiss not to include Glenn Dorsey.

07-19 huh

Just a straight guess without looking up rosters, I’m sure I’ll forget someone

QB: Burrow
HB: Fournette
FB: Hester
WR: Odell
WR: Jarvis
WR: Jamar Chase (projecting a bit here)
TE: Richard Dickson
OT: La’el Collins
OT: Ciron Black
OG: Trai Turner
OG: Herman Johnson
C: Ethan Pocic

Depending on the defense

DE: Montgomery
DT: Dorsey
DT: Brockers
DE: Mingo
Buck: Key
MLB: Devin White
OLB: Deion Jones

OLB: Probably the hardest one for me. Duke Riley, Kevin Minter, Kendall Beckwih or Ali Highsmith.

CB: Patrick Peterson
CB: Morris Claiborne
Nickel: Tyrann

Safety: Jamal Adams
Safety: Grant Delpit

Returner: Patrick Peterson

Who’s the other safety? Laron played in 06

On the field. He was a Heisman finalist for Christ sake.

quote:

Keke Mingo or Arden Key
Why not both? Mingo was a beast but non-fat Arden holds the LSU sack record and played in 2 less games then Mingo.

quote:

Tre White or Greedy Williams
Neither. You have 2 Thorpe Winners and Heisman finalist that played CB. Peterson, Mathieu and Claiborne top that list. But if you were picking from those 2 Tre > Greedy.

quote:

Sam Montgomery or Danielle Hunter
Hunter is a beast in the league but I think he had 4 sacks here in his career and Sam had back to back 8 or 9 sack seasons.

I don’t believe Herman Johnson played tackle I maybe wrong though. Anyway did you know Herman was the biggest baby ever born in Louisiana?

In college I go with Minter in a slight lead over Debo now pro it’s Debo.

You’re right. Edited. Thank you. I thought it was Texas but yeah I’ve heard that.

Thats fair. I put 13 on defense depending on if the set is 3-4, 4-3 or Nickel.

That’s a good list you threw up there without much research though

So out of Mingo, Key, Montgomery and Hunter which 2 do you start? I say Key and Mingo

And if you got Delpt-Adams at safety, are you putting Mathieu at CB2 over White Claiborne or Greedy?

Depends on the set but out of the 4 likely Mingo and Key.

Yes. Mathieu didn’t play safety here. He was a nickel and a corner. Again, it depends on the set but it was a straight 3-4 or 4-3 and my option at corner was Tyrann Mathieu or anyone not named Patrick Peterson it’s not close.

Tyrann is one of the greatest defensive playmakers in college football history.

I’m by no means knocking it, make no mistake, but all I’m saying is there are some phenomenal LSU players out there like Kevin Faulk, Alana Faneca, Josh Reed, Andrew Whitworth, Bradie Jame, etc etc...

I get it, though. I do. And it goes to show how talented of a team one could build picking players from ‘07-now. We’ve been SPOILED with talent since the Saban era, and I’d say we’re trending in the right direction, but recruiting has been pretty steady since Little Nicky’s departure so I’m not complaining—just a shame during all of those Miles years, with the talent we had, to only win a single National Championship. But I digress, Geaux Tigers

Oh yeah for sure man. I was just going by the parameters set. If it were all time i think the only guys from my list that would make it would be Fournette at HB but I’ll listen to the Faulk, Alexander and Cannon debate, Hester atFB for sure, maybe La’el at gaurd, Peterson and Tyrann for sure, Dorsey for sure, probably Jamal and for sure Devin.

There were some really good players before 07 so it’s hard to think of this as an “all time” team, but, I think based on what we now know Dani has to be in there before big Sam. I love me some greedy but I think tre white is the better player which isn’t bad because Tre white is one of the best dbs in the nfl. #18 and was a legit stud for 4 years, I sometimes feel he was under rated in his time here. It was scary watching him on punts tho lol.

If you are going based on college then yeah Sam over Hunter but I think you’d also have to have Minter over Deebo

I’ll take Tre over Mo all day long, he was every bit as good of a cover corner if not better and was definitely a much better tackler. I really don’t see anywhere that Mo is better except for his accolades which imo Tre should have won as well. Tre has the size and speed to match Mo’s best physical qualities. Mo would absolutely be a great pick here but the fact that you so easily dismiss Tre goes a long way in saying what I mentioned earlier.. Tre White was very under rated here.

As I said a few post up. That’s fair.

To me Minter was a true mike.

Maybe Minter at Mike and Devin at Sam
