Thank you! Everyone was creaming over this guy after 1 game. Come on. Only 1 underclassman on defense is nfl ready. That is stingley and hopefully he doesn’t opt out in 2021

He's not ready. He's lacking a lot of basic DE fundamentals. He doesn't work off of his blocker, control the edge and runs himself out of plays way too often. There's a lot more to DE than just rushing the QB.

Danielle Hunter is a good example of what a freak athlete can do with better coaching in a system that fits his skills. Players with his measurables get drafted on potential despite how raw they are.

Based on this years performance after 5 games, only 1 player is NFL ready.... Terrace Marshall.

Half this board said Patrick Queen wasn't ready for the NFL either. Not saying that's the case for Gaye at all, but that tends to be the opinion people jump to for any player that isn't blatantly obvious an NFL first rounder.

And as Lester is alluding to, some guys are just going ready or not.

He went to a Junior college because of academics... and I’m sure it’s not any easier now that he’s at LSU

his potential is through the roof, he may get drafted high on that alone. Im curious what his combine numbers will look like.

What makes you think he will learn them here? I've actually heard of NFL defensive coaches liking LSU players because they KNOW the coaching is so bad they aren't even close to they're potential ala Danielle Hunter, whereas from Bama you're getting a finished product.

He definitely struggles with engaging and then getting off blockers.

I see the same problem with others too. I see alot of running around them, or trying to. Sometimes that's ok, but not often. When at the point of attack it is never a good thing.

The basic principle is that if you try to go around a block at the point of attack, you made the block for them. The blocker was trying to make you leave that space for a reason.

Who knows about these players and this staff. In short, LSU has not developed players to their potential for years.
Now, it's a double edge sword in that the player with very hi potential may be under developed via coaching coupled with that the player doesn't want to pay the price to be developed.

He's leaving money on the table, a lot of it, if he leaves after this season.
