So, the plot thickens. And food for thought for the school ADs and execs as they think about bringing down penalties and expulsion for LSU. Careful what precedents you set.

Logically, this is LSU's ace in the hole defense against punishment and penalties. And if the SEC chose to move forward with anything, they should (won't) penalize Bama.
Ultimately, I think the whole thing just needs to get dropped. The SEC can agree that signing players who have participated (remove the vague "contract" discussion) in professional leagues is verboten and move on.

But the SEC IS a professional league - call it NIL or whatever you want, but athletes are getting paid to play their sport.
So the SEC needs to clarify - can’t be NFL or Canadian league or whatever other league - except rookie camps, or until they’ve played a regular season game or whatever nuance they want. Same for other sports. But until it is spelled out clearly, who knows what constitutes their definition. Sankey can’t articulate it either, apparently.
How can you argue the Big10, SEC etc aren’t professional leagues? Because their bylaws say so? Maybe transfers between conferences are then illegal?? Where does it stop?
This is a power grab/life support grab and instead of embracing it and saying go get whoever you can so SEC can be stronger, they are clinging to the past that they themselves blew up. I’m not saying I like the way it is now, but it’s where we are.

The same conference dominated by Alabama alum will not fairly enforce rules regarding anything.
LSU's past administrations would just bend over and accept the blatant gam fixing, schedule changing, allowing ineligible players being suddenly eligible if they went to Bame, etc. This administration and coach stand up to the SEC. This is why they want them out now.
I am shocked a national media outlet actually told the truth.
However, we all know what the result will be. Bama will be allowed to do what they want, when they want, because Bama.

I saw a post on X that said that ultimately the leagues are trying to avoid collective bargaining with players.
