As long as we clear the constantly lowered bar, we should all be happy. This is how it works right?

a 14-1 school that has beaten us 8 times in a row, is doing something that many lsu fans thinks needs to be done, while we have people sitting here making excuses not to do it, and you think it belongs on the SEC board?
Well, there is many ways to skin a cat. Continuity is one of them. Being on the extreme end with accountability and changes is another.

Noting that dry humping turtles is not one of them. We chose option D... none of the above.

Strangely enough, it was the defensive backfield that was the weak point of the defense...which is Saban's ball game.

The Bama D backs have ALWAYS been overrated; their deficiencies have been hidden by the aggressive D line play. Neutralize their rush, the Bama D-backs are and will be exposed. And yes,
Saban is ultimately responsible for them.

I am going to go ahead and say this even though some of you may disagree.

Saban is 68 years old and he is at the age where many top assistant coaches are going to be hesitant to come to Bama at this point in Saban's career.

To make wholesale changes on his staff sounds great but this isn't 5 or 10 years ago. Top coaches already have good jobs for the most part and they are going to wonder just how long Saban is going to hang on.

It may not be as easy bringing in top coaches as many think. After all, how did Saban end up with who he has now and who picked them? Saban did.

Time waits on no man.

I see your point, and in normal circumstances I would agree with you, but not in this one.

Saban has built up such a coaching pedigree that I'm sure coaches would be lined up to coach under him. Put up with him for a year or two, win national titles when you can beat Clemson, and move up to running your own show.

Well, once again, if it was that easy to pick these coaches then Saban wouldn't be in this position to begin with.

All that being said, I am not convinced that may happen in the 1st place. We will see.

What position is this? Having just lost the NCG and wanting to upgrade wherever possible so that he can win again next year?

Well the main reason he is constantly in this position is because his coaches are getting hired, and given bigger opportunities. It's not like he is constantly firing them.

I'll disagree for one reason:

Now there is a track record of going directly from a coordinator, maybe even position coach, under Saban to a P5 HC gig.

Normally it would be assistant to non-P5 as HC, then back to P5 as HC. The track record is, currently, to skip that one step and 3-5 years of career movement.

To boot, to fail under Saban (in his eyes) hasn't been detrimental to the normal path. It seems most schools 'get it'. Do bad (in Saban's opinion) and still get HC gig at lower school. Do good, and got straight to P5.

When there's a chance for career rewards with very little risk, they'll come a flocking.

Saban gets a bunch of new coaches each year, because everyone hates working with him and can only take it for so long.

Working for Saban is like eating only kale every single day. It might be good for your career, but you despise every minute of it.

So that's why coaches are leaving every year? It's not because they are getting promototed to a higher position, often at P5 schools?

Well, that's part of it, of course, but lots of those guys who leave for "promotions" are going to jobs that pay them less money.

I mean, technically, Doug Mallory "got promoted" from co-DC at LSU to DC at New Mexico, but the reality is that he was fired.

Saban is an a**hole. This is known.
