Bottom line, if we force AJ McCarron to beat us with his arm, we win

This x1000.

TR is Bamas best player and playmaker by far. We must shut him down. I like our secondary's odds vs McCarron and their WRs if we can effectively limit TR's production.

We will need to score 30 points to win this game. That is why I say it is dependent on Lee.

I hope we score 30 but the total for this game will be around 30. LSU 16-13 with Alleman (sp?) knocking the winner in with less than a minute to play.

Anyone notice SI article predicting top 50 NFL picks next year that has 4 Bama defenders, inlcuing both safeties, in top 50? Oy

This is true in every game. It starts with blocking. And tackling. If we can accomplish this, then it's all down hill.

2002(Under li'l Nicky) was the last time an LSU team failed to show up against 'Bama. Won't happen this time either. If both teams give similar effort, it boils down to execution, ball-control and field position, which both teams excel at. Winning the turnover battle will be a huge key as always.

What a great thread. Tons of great posts. IMO (I know most don't care but...) It is all about LSU containing Trent more so than LSU's O line. Our pass rush isn't our bread and butter.

On the other hand, I saw a post saying Trent is hard to bring down 1 v 1. More times than not...he will not be tackled by 1 guy. Just look at his YAC. if LSU's LB's step up and fill the gaps...I don't like our chances. Don't take this the wrong way but that's why I like Bama's chances. I think TR will make hay in open space against the LBs.

Tackle TR. My guess is the first "hero" who tries for a strip and lets him go for a TD gets bench time.

The key is the refs.........if they are on Bama's side, it don't matter what LSU does. ....LSU will not win.

If we win(my finger are crossed) we will win on special teams. Their kicker cannot kick into the inzone.

You make LSU fans look so whiny with this shite. You won't even be able to enjoy a great game because of your referee complex.

Secondly I think we need to stretch the field with passes down field to open up the run by keeping their LB's on their heels

If we force them in to a nickel defense, thats one less Lber they have on the field, which is obviously their strength.

Im not sure playing TE's for run blocking will work in this game. Their LBers will might run over our TE's.

Then again, having a good TE in there gives you options and could force LBers in to coverage against the pass, which means less blitzers.

I guess it goes both ways. So why the frick did i even bother to write anything in the first place?

Disagree. The linebacker play is more important

the OP is correct too, but if the centers are healthy, we dont have issues with our O-line. The FBs are ok. So sure, if the O-line lets people get after Lee/JJ, we will have nightmares about Nick Fairley putting Lee and JJ down hard. if,

therefore, the bigest factor will be the linebackers vs Trent/Lacy.
LB's are smallish. K Hatcher is the weak link, IMO.

The last time we played a great running back? Am I wrong on this one, but didn't Lamichael J Ames finish second in the Heisman vote last yr.? Hasn't he pretty much lit up the yrds. since playing lsu? I understand they are different kinds of backs, but James certainly was a very good back.... you shall see, the tiger D will keep TD in check as well. Some of you doubters still don't get it, but you will....

It's amazing some of yall will say this. LB is our weakest position yet we have still played great defense. I amconvinced our tackling will be like it was in the oregon game. We have an extra week to get healthy and get our legs back.

Our oline vs their front 7 is the key. If they dominate our line on offense we have no shot at all of winning.

We need to hold the running game under 100 yds and contain the screen game. If we do that we win.
