There is no "maybe" about it.

What’s crazy is he made halftime adjustments last year. No clue wtf is going on this season.

He’s got to be gone imo

He has to be on the take. It is really the only explanation at this point. You can't call the same exact defense every play and expect something different. Bama literally ran a Les Miles offensive playbook and set records. That is a scheme issue all the way. Either retarded or has gambling debt. No in between.

I think a couple possibilities. Most likely just very stubborn and refuses to expand playbook until team can execute the basic scheme he’s running. Other possibility include he’s totally in over his head or he’s just mailed it in. It really is mind boggling why he won’t just try anything different. What’s the worst that could happen? We give up chunk plays and points? We are already doing that.

All this hand-wringing for Matt House.

His job is to run a good defense. The defense is really bad. He didn't do his job.

He did his job so badly in fact, that it actually implicates the head coach's ability

"The defense is so bad that there is no way a good head coach watching this would let it proceed."

Brian Kelly has to get rid of House.

I still don’t really get what I’m seeing sometimes.

House was AWESOME last year. LSU routinely made great halftime defensive adjustments. They wore out near the end of last year because of lack of depth, but he got as much as anybody reasonably could out of them, and the result was very good for the circumstances.

Fast forward a year and these dudes can’t tackle, can barely cover, and we see minimal adjustments. That’s usually a coaching failure. If it isn’t, then these dudes just suck, and the lack of adjustment is because you literally don’t have competent players capable of changing the gameplan. That seems very unlikely (that’s the type of thing you would say about high school ball… or hell middle school).

But surely House didn’t just up and forget how to coach defense over the last year?

It’s just mind-boggling.

All I know is, after rewatching the game- there were no adjustments and if we have one to two stops- we win easily

All they was doing was running

One thing I like about Saban, he plays the player he thinks gives him the best shot at winning. If he's wrong, he has absolutely no problem pulling him and trying someone else. Look at how Milroe was handled this year. They pulled Milroe and tried QB2 and as soon as they saw that wasn't working, they went to QB3. Both backups were bad and they inserted QB1 back into the starting slot.

LSU, no matter who is the coach, always ride with whoever they start the season out with. No matter how bad of a performance, guys are pretty cemented in their position here. Fans bitch and moan and always want someone else to play, the season ends, and changes are sometimes made. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Rarely do freshmen have an impact here, while all across the CFB landscape other schools have freshman excelling. It just never gets old. This year there have been several defensive players that performed poorly. Even though backups have played better in limited snaps, the starter is the starter. Crazy to think how Weeks didn't log a single snap in the Bama game.

They learned how to do that in the season opener. It was starkly evident that they just flat out gave up in that game.
Apparently Florida State gave them a lesson that has stuck with them to this day. How to give up in the middle of a game. A good DC should be able to break that shite up fast.

House needs to go.

The defense does not do "stick tackling." The defense does not swarm to the ball. It is a very unagressive defense.

LSU has more defensive talent than USF and they played much better than we did. It’s coaching bruh.

The guy made zero adjustments at half time. Any good to elite DC is going to be good at making adjustments. I've seen enough over these two years to know he isn't the guy. His scheme sucks. He never gets guys into good match ups. Have you ever seen perkins run free up the middle on a blitz? House is shite

I agree that we don’t have the dudes on that side of the ball, but we do have some dudes. I’ve seen enough also. Bama was my last chance before I totally shut the door on this guy. He has been out-schemed by better coaches but he let Tommy Rees beat him while doing nothing but the same. He again made no adjustment to stop what the most basic knowledgeable fan saw and was screaming at their TVs to do.

Send House to the House.

LSU's Defensive Football IQ is as low as I've ever witnessed, certainly for an LSU team. That is the reason for most of their ineptitude. They are out of position, and that leads to tackling efforts that look very weak. Even Perkins has been exposed.
Very little real coaching has taken place with any of the D assts and certainly not House. these guys are way in over their head and need to find the highway immediately after the season is over, if not before. We couldn't do any worse with no DC at all.
