Sciambra is at 488
I am a big Sciambra fan and I love the fact that he has recovered from last season, but he is a prime example of how deceiving stats can be.
The kid does a phenomenal job at working the count and seeing a lot of pitches, but that is about all he is doing well at the moment.
Since his 4 for 4 on opening day, he is batting .186...he does draw a lot of walks which is good for a leadoff batter but lately, walking is the only way he gets on base. 5 hits in the last 9 games are not great for a leadoff batter. I hope he finds his stick because I love the lineup the way it is. I think their is good balance from top to bottom. But if Sciambra continues on this pace, I wouldn't be surprised if CPM makes a move.

McMullen is actually starting today in his place. Could just be rest, could be Sciambra is hurt...but a move has been made right now.

Not to mention he's proven his OBP is sutainable, well laird and sciambra haven't, so it would be reasonable to think they won't keep it above .450.
of course i dont think they'll stay that high, but even if they hoever around the 40% mark, that would be good enough to leave them in that spot.
as far as Raph's isolated power last year, if you remember correctly his 1st year he flashed a good bit of power. He had a bunch of doubles, and a lot of deep fly balls/line drives. Last year was more singles, but i think he has some more pop in him that he didnt display last year.
If he had more speed id be on board with hitting him leadoff, but he really doesnt. WOuld you rather him clog the bases or get one of the faster guys on that can steal a base, or move 1st to 3rd, or turn a single into a double and be in scoring postion for Katz/Rhymes/Bregman, etc?
id rather him drive in the runs personally
