I like how they count Maveto as one person.

No hire has been made, but we were talking about the thought process behind the hire, and if it is primarily for a recruiter and not for a winning D, you have lost before you've started.

This is a ridiculous statement. You think it's a mistake to have multiple interviews? Or that the process is too drawn out? That's absurd.

You do not tell someone they are the top candidate, then say I will get back to you after I talk to few other people.

Top level executives are not hired that way. You do your homework, you find your candidate, you interview and if all is well you make the offer-

At lower level management you may interview several candidates then select someone.

You only get one chance to make a first impression.

Again, you can have both. Nobody is saying that the DC will primarily be a recruiter. He wants an upgrade on that front, that's all. You can have both.

Is this real life?

If this happens, Miles is a dead man walking.

my confidence of getting a good hire for this job has gone from feeling really confident, to well feeling pretty bad about it.

These last 24 hours have been horrible for us. We still have a good chance to get a good candidate. But wow have these 24 hours sucked.
