hard to say we rightfully said no. Our coaches don’t coach the World Record Holder, Mondo’s does. maybe we should have hired Duplantis.
Also, I think our qualifying system in general needs work.
There has to be a qualification + selection aspect.

Almost none of the athletes personal coaches are actually the National Team coaches. Once again, for good reasons
Thinking we should change the way we do things for one pole vaulter when we are the most dominant T&F team by massive amounts is crazy

He didn't even win the national championship in the event in his 1 year at LSU. Why on Earth would he have a statue at LSU?

Will he ever decide to compete for his home nation? I get why he is going the route he is right. It is just disappointing that we have a GOAT athlete in his sport right here from Lafayette, Louisiana and he isn’t competing for team USA.

USA track and field which has multiple athletes that will win multiple golds in this single Olympics isn’t going to change what it does for a guy that can only win a single medal

Swedish is such a poor language for him he won’t do it for interviews or public
I am not blaming mondo. But yes this is a merc scenario. The scenario was simply possible due to his mother
If we had an athlete that was 100% born and raised in Vasteras that spoke Swedish only come compete for us we would call it a merc too

The only people saying this about “special treatment “ are you and the critics. the fact that they got benefits from Sweden the US doesn’t offer and Sweden does things differently as far as making the Olympic team isn’t the same thing as “demanding special treatment”.

That would be special treatment. I’m not saying mondo called kicking and screaming asking for anything
Team USA treated mondo like all of our other WR and gold medal athletes
There is zero reason to say they “screwed anything up”
Just like there is zero reason to trash mondo
