I tend to agree with you. As someone with a mixed family, I'd definitely be more irritated with "black bitch" directed at my kid as.opposed to just "bitch".
But neither are good. Certainly neither should be said by a mom with her kids at her side. That guy is an a-hole, but they should have shown more restraint.

She made herself a public spectacle with her actions, same as him
Why are you so offended she is made public in this event but have no concerns about people flocking to his Facebook profile?
When you behave poorly in public you kinda lose your ability to want to claim anonymity for your own actions
