starting to? LSU hasn't prioritized basically since the Lester Earl NCAA hack job. If you've been ok with buying season tickets the last 30+ years of the LSU not caring about basketball, one would think nothing could really get you to that level

There's never been a 4 year stretch this dire. And in the hypothetical scenario, the administration is perfectly ok with that.
SEc records by year
93-94: 5-11
94-95: 6-10
95-96: 4-12
96-97: 3-13
97-98: 2-14
98-99: 4-12
99-00: 12-4
00-01: 2-14
01-02: 6-10
That's a 9 year stretch of only having one team that wasn't horrible. We finished last in the West 5 out of 6 years in there and 5th place 2 of them.

The program will never recover if McMahon is brought back.
I don't understand posts like this. He's already been here for 4 years and we've sucked the whole time, but now suddenly one more bad year will be the final breaking point that screws us over forever? I'm not saying this to defend McMahon, I'm just tired of this alarmist BS. The idea that a program can "never recover" from failure is a myth in the NIL era. A single good coaching hire could turn the program around rapidly, whether it's right now or next year.

It won’t, when Wade was here it was the 2nd most successful 5 year stretch in program history yet the attendance hadn’t yet returned to the later days of the Brown era. When Brady had the final 4 run then a couple years later we had the 09 SEC championship team, the upper concessions were opened once. The point is even in our best couple stretches over the past 15+ years we never fully recovered because of mismanagement and stupidity. If McMahon comes back next year you will lose so many die hards it will never return.

That’s pretty weird.
It’s not like they’ve ever been a dominant program. You seen a lot of mediocre to terrible basketball and that 41st year is where you draw the line?
This place is the best.
yea you dont know ball clearly

It was a myth before the NIL era too. People just like to be dramatic about sports. "so and so will set the program back a decade" is said all the time and it's never true.

Auburn was an absolute doormat program for its entire existence. Die hards didn't exist in their fanbase. Insert Bruce Pearl, a new arena, and sustained success, and they all came out of the woodworks. Fans can be a fickle bunch but they'll support a winning team. They won't just not come to games out of spite if LSU hires a coach who wins, regardless of how many years in a row they suck

People like winners. The PMAC packs for Women's Basketball. Surely they can do that for men's as well.
Posted on 3/16/26 at 3:16 pm to mdomingue
But they haven’t, that’s a fact

Auburn isn’t LSU
what' your point? Fans are fans. Fans will follow a winner, whether it's at LSU or Rutgers
Fans are also, by their nature, overly dramatic...like you saying if a coach comes back, fans will never return.

My dad had 2 seats since the PMAC opened. We had them until last year. I was buying for the last 7-8 years. I let them go. No one wanted to buy them and it’s a terrible product.
Some of my fondest LSU sporting memories are from the PMAC in the 80’s and 90’s.

You’ve made the point already. Auburn never had much, they have success, fans gravitate to the excitement and it’s been sustained. LSU had success, lost it, fans know what it looks like so they know when they’re not being valued, they lose trust and it’s harder to get them back. Are you really this stupid?

Because I've watched fans come back in droves in similar situations. I already knew you were this stupid, so you thinking LSU would be done forever doesn't surprise me.
LSU hasn't had sustained success in basketball in almost 40 years. If fans were going to lose trust and never come back, fans going nuts over Will Wade never would have happened.
But let's make a deal, since you identify as a die-hard. If McMahon isn't fired this year, I don't expect to ever see you post about the basketball team again. Fair?

No, you haven’t. I just explained it hasn’t happened.

I will still be attending next year if Coach McMahon is retained and pull for success for LSU! Again I pull for all LSU sports!

Yeah we all pull for LSU and that’s WHY we want the WORST coach in our history to be fired

Why go through another 3-15 SEC record with Mcloser. I would love to see Wade come back but there are plenty of better coaches them MM out there. If nothing else hire a young fiery coach who will bring enthusiasm and actually meet with donors and business groups to raise money. Something Mcloser has refused to do since he got here!

a 4 year stretch this dire
There was a 6 year stretch of bad basketball -- the last four seasons of Dale Brown and the first two of Brady -- that came pretty close to being this dire. And one of those years started off pretty well until Ronnie Henderson (or was it Randy Livingston) went down with a devastating knee injury) and the team lost its last eleven games, including a 31-point late collapse vs KY.
