Sounds like you are trying to make Morgantown out to be the mecca of college football...
Where did I ever come close to even implying that? I said there's no huge place where everyone tailgates besides to Blue Lot and to some extent the Coliseum. That is absolutely all I've said

Yet you're comparing it to Oxford and Athens as far as geography?

Alright, let me dumb it down for you. Where will you be tailgating?

Sunnyside among other places. It's a 5 minute walk to the stadium. It's all residential and is where most students live.

Does sunnyside have a street?

Beechurst, McClane, Grant, Beverly, University, and Jones going up from the river. 8th St to Campus Drive going along the river
I'll move to the Blue Lot as it gets closer to gametime

i dunno even know what the cellar is, what bar did that used to be
its willeys not bent(you must be younger) just b/c it has a dance floor doesn't make it a club. Lizard is a bar that has live music all the time def not a club

The Cellar used to be Chasers. We still call it Chasers. Didn't know how old you were so went with the current name. Bent is definitely a club. Lizard could be called either I guess

Everyone calls it Bent. My sister graduated in the early 2000s and calls it Bent. Don't know who you've been hanging out with
And what is NF?

Golfer, if you're bringing a trailer, set up at the Coliseum...its $40 to camp all weekend and they run shuttles before and after the game...or you can walk, its maybe a mile right through the heart of the WVU tailgating scene...
Take the star city exit, turn right at the bottom of the hill, go straight...Coliseum sticks out like a sore thumb, you cant miss it...Across from the Coliseum is Patteson Dr, which goes straight to the stadium...
If you're not bringing a trailer, and still want to set up TVs and tailgate, then you can do that anywhere...You can park in the Light Green Lot where I park, i believe its $40...I buy a pass, so im not sure exactly the cost, but 40 sounds familiar...its close and easy walk to the stadium...
back on page 5, i posted a map of the Light Green Lot...
Hope that helps...

Thanks! This is just a 6x10 cargo trailer, not a 5th wheel or anything. Are those allowed in the light green lot?

Yes I've been to Athens. And you think they have hills?
i have to agree with 304eer on this one.....the stadium is located in some pretty rough terrain
the parking situation around the stadium totally sucks and the Blue lot is no larger than the present day South Stadium lot.....if it's that big.....and it's shared with a hospital so you can only set up on gameday morning at the earliest....

Golfer, I dont think you can in the Light Green...I've only seen cars/trucks in there...however, you can in the Green Lot, which is basically right across the road...The green lot is also located on Van Hooris Rd, about 100 yards down from the Light Green...the Light Green is in that corner, on the left, the Green will be on the right...
Even though its a small trailer, they'll still probably consider that like any other...Green Lot single game passes are $115, and i imagine first come first serve...
I'd still say the Coliseum is your best bet...its only $40 and its always a good time...

This is in no way a flame or attack, but I have to ask. What is the deal with the couch burning? where did it come from and when did it start? Most importantly, why?

I don't think anyone knows exactly when or why it started but it was sometime in the 60s or 70s (for sure by 1975 and WVU's win over Pitt). It was most likely started in Sunnyside which is a student dominated neighborhood in Morgantown and is right next to campus and Old Mountaineer Field. My guess is after a win, someone drug their couch in the middle of the road and set it on fire. And since then, win or lose, we burn sh*t. Want to see some good couch burnings and celebrations? Youtube "morgantown osama" or some variation of that from the riots on the night Osama died. MFD counted 29 fires. I think that's a record for one night
And some general info. It's not always couches. Any household furniture suffices (mattress, coffee table, etc). Dumpster fires are also common. Here's a thread about the history from one of our boards
https://www.wemustignitethiscouch.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=15465
And here's an article from 2005 in USA Today

I'm also seeing something about a Methodist Church on Van Voorhis Rd. near the Hampton Inn that charges for parking. Thoughts?

That's where Van Voorhis makes a big left hand turn. You can see the stadium from there and it's probably a 10 minute walk. As good of a place as any. Probably about 100 yards from there are two fairly large lots with lots of tailgating
