It is only fun when we are dominating and winning. Otherwise, no fun.

The last "fun" game I went to was 2007 vs. Arkansas--the 3OT game. Granted, since then, I've only had tickets to non-conference games and games against SEC opponents like MSU and Vandy.

quote:No, because that lack of fun would only apply to one game, not 1 1/2 seasons or more.
Tell us. If Brees, Bush, and Shockey had gone down with injuries and Harper had been in and out of the game with cramps from the flu and the Saints had lost to the Rams, would you be whinning and bitching about Payton and the Saints, "not being fun anymore"
Just curious.

Tiger in ATL, I wasn't really paying much attention to what I was typing, but I feel like that's my big problem. I wasn't trying to put this on you, but I feel like Saban's return has a lot to do with these feelings for a lot of people. It's a combination of the fact that we downgraded coaches (which is starting to show up on the field) while the rest of the SEC is in the process of upgrading coaches. It's obvious when these teams with such inferior talent are taking our team to its limits.

No, the only game I came close to having fun watching this year was Auburn. The O, D, and ST were on fire that night and we looked like we were one a mission to destroy everythiing, but the still left I think like 17 points on the field which was frustrating.
I mean I miss the days of 2007 where we would kill the cream puffs 45+ to 0, and all the SEC play was exciting we looked prepare to play. Of course you can say well what about kentucky and Arky, but I personally think they are outwieghed by VT, FLorida, Tenn, OSU, SC, Bama, and Auburn that year.
I mean the last LSU game I really enjoyed watching was probably the BCS national championship game and maybe Auburn in 2008 b/c it was the exciting SEC with some Lesticles thrown in even though the D looked like swiss cheese that night with all the holes in it.
Overall as others have said winning is good, but are we ever going to see a game like VT where we pounded them not one, but two new assholes under Miles. I mean the best thing a coach can do is make people enjoy watching his football team play. I mean even though I cant stand the teams I love watching FLorida, Bama, and Texas play.
Its sad now almost, I missed the days under Miles when even though we were lined up to kick a field goal, not a soul in the stadium actually had a clue whether that ball was destined to go through the uprights. I miss the excitement of 5 for 5 on fourht down and Verne going as my good friend would say "ONIONS!" for those who remember that comment.
I mean I think alot of LSU fans frustration with Miles is just as you said, LSU football isnt fun anymore, it dull, ordinary, and we cant seem to win the big game or even look prepared for it. I mean all the people on here who say oh well alot of teams would want to trade records with Miles, but if Miles cant beat Saban or Meyer, he could go 11-1 or 11-2 and still be second tier which sounds rediculous, but in the conference we play in, its just the truth.
If I had to guess, most LSU fans love the record we have, but hate the way we got it. I mean we all bleed purple and gold and we want to hear on SPortscenter how we just plowed through someone, obliterated them, things we havent heard since idk, 2007. Miles has lost the fan base and has people calling for his head b/c LSU football isnt exciting to watch, its like a business trip not a college sporting event.

LSU football and all other LSU sports-ginormous amounts of fun.

quote:We upgraded to Chavis, thankfully, and arguably (before the piece of shite we see this year) upgraded with Crowton over Jimbo, who was in my mind at best an inept OC. Did Crowton just forget how to coach, is Miles meddling, is Miles not meddling enough? Who knows. It's Les's responsibility and he's going to have to fix it.

Watching a Les Miles coached team is a very frustrating experience, so it is not nearly as enjoyable as it could be. His teams are consistently under-prepared, un-disciplined, confused, mistake-prone and therefore are handicapped ~ 10 points per game. He also looks so clueless and irrelevant on the sideline and never provides any football substance in his communications/interviews. He does not show "situational awareness" in "real time", and is therefore often un-prepared for time outs and other notable decisions that are critical for head coaches. The exceptions do exist, but mostly when the team has several weeks to focus on a game plan (bowls are notable as an example here) and when we ou-talent and "out team-speed" the opposition. In the case of GT, ND and OSU, both were evident, thus the wins. In the case of Miami, it was a good game plan against an over-rated team. ND was also severely over-rated. In the case of Florida 2007, significant guts and Sr leadership allowed his risk-filled approach to pan out.
well put

No it's not fun. Curly Hallman would dominate LA Tech with the talent we have. Nobody cares and we haven't beatin anyone worth a damn.

If you are not having fun during the Golden-Age of LSU football, your not an LSU football fan!

you could say this about a lot of teams...you think usc is having fun? ou? uf isnt winning pretty anymore either. I guess we should all be notre dame fans cus they are having one fun season.

We had fun watching the Tech game, we all took a shot everytime LSU went three and out. We were drunk by halftime.

Chavis is definitely an upgrade over Malloveto, but I feel like overall our defense has downgraded from Pellini. I'm not even saying Pellini is perfect and I got a little frustrated with the way things started out during his first two games at LSU and towards the end of the 2007 regular season when we had trouble with a quarterback who could run a sub-5.4 40.

ULL...unbelievable, this game should have been an arse raping, yet we let them hand around for too long and look lethargic
this rt here is where ur opinion doesnt matter. 31-3? jesus christ what would you have liked? You say you had fun watching uga which was a close game. But you also liked watching us blow out tulane. What is better? staying the whole game cus its a good close match, or blowing out the other team and leaving at halftime?
Only three games this season bugged me.. 1)MS State- still fun considering we won in dramatic fashion
2)UF- obviously scoring 3 pts sucks
3) La tech- once again offense sucked and there were points in the game i actually felt we could lose
All the other games were fine, we pulled out the win and i had fun watching the bama game all the way til the 4th quarter and the missed int call.

2-Miles lover PLEASE stop referring to his nat'l championship as some kind of dominant feat. 2 loss team that lucks up when the stars line up for them to go to the NC and beats up on a weak arse Ohio State team. FWIW the best team in the SEC that year and nation that year was UGA.
Err..those same stars lucked up in 2003 I believe. Syracuse, Hawaii, Notre Dame, Okla loss to Kansas St. and so on.
Part of a championship run is luck.

First-The Saints did not lose. Their offense was not that bad. The Colston fumble really made it close.
Second-The Saints have an offensive line that can block 3 man rushes so I doubt Brees takes the beating/pressure that JL and JJ take.
Third-If Shockey and Bush were injured...oh well..David Thomas caught more passes Sunday anyway. And I think the Saints have two other RBs who are better than Bush. Shockey and Bush have been injured before and not in the lineup.
Fourth-You can't put Harper into the situation. The Saints were already down Ellis, Clancy, Greer and Sharper.

-wasting talent
- letting teams that shouldn't even be competing w u, compete w us till the 4th
- having a coach praise what we call crappy playing every week
- losing to bama and uf 2 years in a row
- watching a coach make 1 boneheaded game decision after another
I agree that all of the above mentioned have many fans quite frustrated. I can't help thinking about what the players must be feeling during the games when they experience first hand some of the decisions that make us so angry. Is it any wonder that they lack "swagger"?
If we are losing confidence in the decision makers, just imagine their state of mind. I don't think they're having much fun either.
