re: A more in depth break down of BYU for what it's worth. Super long post - apologies.

Just got 1 gif of a "didn't read nature". Most definitely I'm a BYU fan but I LOVE college football in general, so I'm always looking for info on teams so I just tried to put something together that I would enjoy reading personally. Thanks for the appreciation. I know in the grand scheme of things we don't make it into nationally important conversations - we're hoping it changes with Sitake at the helm.

That was me and I only posted it because i knew it'd get whacked

Yeah, Pau'u might have some size issues at the next level - listed as 6'0" and that seems generous. But he's a ball of muscle and I feel he has elite instinct. Fred Warner is OLB and is the best bet as a next level guy - great in coverage good side, great athlete. Francis Bernard is probably as good if not better as an athlete - he could be a project UFA at the next level but probably not drafted.

Truthfully you may be able to get pressure with just the d-ends. I'm really not optimistic about our tackles - I'm probably alone when compared to the more blue goggled fans. I would love to be proven wrong. We've heard a lot about receivers speed we'll see if they are all they are cracked up to be.

Side note - based on the IT picture in your signature. That movie looks like it is going to be amazing!

Thanks for the info man. I'll try to look up where I heard that stuff about the LBs. IIRC, it was on different radio shows.
Something that stuck out to me was the show host saying they expect BYU's defense to hold LSU under 21 points.
Another thing that stuck out to me on another show (I believe on a local BR ESPN radio) was that the guy they were interviewing from y'alls side said y'all were 8 points from being undefeated last year. Said y'all lost 4 games by 8 points total. That's crazy and shows a team willing to fight and hang with teams who may have superior talent.
I'm kind of worried about this game TBH. We have a new HC, OC and a lot of youth on both sides of the ball. Many of our fans have the same attitude about this game as they did the Wisconsin game last year. Of course, I feel if Etling had been the starter since the beginning, we would have won that game, however, my point still stands that I think this will be a close game.
I have LSU by 8.

It is true that all of their losses were very close. But they also had a number of wins that were close too. So they could have gone either way, but hopefully it allows them to not get too out of control if things are close. They had:
Arizona W 18-16
Utah L 19-20
UCLA L 17-14
WVU L 32-35
Toledo W 53-55
MS State W 21-28 OT
Boise State L 27-28
It meant a lot of fun football watching, also it meant a lot of heart attacks. My hope is that it's respectable if we could keep it within a score or 2 I will be happy with that. I think they'll surprise some people this year - though the beginning slate has LSU, Utah, Wisconsin all in a row and that's a lot of good defense, nothing new to SEC folk though

Bernard is out for the season, so scratch the analysis on his impact. He'll probably be replaced by Adam Pulsipher. He got back up reps last year and played alright, but this is a huge blow.

Thanks for your time and effort. You are a gentleman and a scholar. Regardless of the outcome of this game, I wish you and your team good fortune for the rest of the season. I don't think that the game will be close but the spread seems reasonable. The difference in the two teams is speed. This is the fastest team you will face all year. The LSU defense is just at another level. The offense will have long plays just because of the scheme and speed of the play makers. BYU is lucky to be catching us early. Our most glaring weakness is youth at certain positions.

Arguably the most comprehensive amd unbiased opposing fan breakdown I've seen posted here.

The speed certainly plays a big factor - it is that much more augmented when you look at the size that accompanies that speed. From everything I can tell whether or not Key is around Chaisson is going to be an absolute nigthmare coupled with the linebacking corp the front seven is going to be formidable. Secondary goes without saying. Hopefully our defense can do enough against the newly installed offense - even with the athleticism on that side of the ball. As the old saying goes "speed kills", hopefully the game is closer than you think. Who wants to travel that far to see their team get annihilated?

Very informative, thanks for taking the time to break it down.
Question: Are you one of those Mormons that wears a full beard with no moustache? That doesn't look good on anybody.

It doesn't? Duly noted, I'll shave tonight! Actually I apparently am just this side of alopecia, I can't grow a beard or a mustache.

Thomas Shoaf needs to eat some biscuits - and I mean a lot of biscuits.
He looks more like the Employee of the Month at the South Jordan Café Zupa's then a left tackle.

He could put 30 lbs on his frame and you would hardly notice. Maybe we could put a care package with some beignets together for him!
