I hope you're right! The reality is that teams that are top 5 level have the ability to embarrass everyone else. I hope that's what this was.

Can do! Since BYU went independent i have contemplated adopting a second team to follow closely. The reality of independence is that we make more money than we did as a G5, and enjoying a limbo status as qualifying with some conferences as a P5 scheduling. But my best case scenario as a fan involves being a top 25 team at the end of the year and playing some very storied programs. Without a conference race after we lose a couple games we have a generally easy enough schedule we should go bowling at some lesser bowl.
As for cougarboard it reminds me of something I would have scoured on my Gateway computer running the newly released Windows XP. I don't venture there frequently.

Oh, I hope we do. U fans are insufferable, they say the rivalry is dead and we don't mean anything to them. But, if we really didn't mean anything to them they wouldn't comment incessantly on things related to BYU. Also no team has been more relevant than them, the stuff I hear from my friends that are Utah fans drives me crazy.

Nice! You look to have some promising pieces there, best of luck in the league

Unfortunately even if we would have had 10 more chances on offense I don't see them going anywhere.

I will be back at the very least after you dismantle 'Bama! Nick Saban rubs me the wrong way, petty as it may be, I love watching them lose! I would love a home and home but understand we're a 2 for 1 type of team. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Thanks! Hopefully they can pull it together and play competitively. If they pick up a win in the next few weeks this performance is going to be that much otherworldly for LSU! I hope we can do that for you guys!

6, though some of the DL had a lot of playing time.
Great Game Tigers!

Well, my hopes that BYU would make it respectable were dashed. I'm still up in the air on what our defense can be, hard to be effective with the TOP disparity that exists. Really my takeaways from the week on BYU are that Detmer needs to get his act together, we are pretty deficient in our talent at the RB position, tough to assess WR witg our QB play, and our local reporters monumentally oversold where we were at.
I know this has been mentioned before, but it really is a testament to the coaching staff how prepared and mature the young players played. Stacked talent and fastidious coaching seems to point towards great things for your program. Etling was playing with a clear understanding of what was expected of him and I thought his deep ball looked pretty. Guice goes without saying. The Defense was suffocating. I do feel bad our boys couldn't provide some stiffer competition. But if I were an LSU fan I would be really pleased with my team.
It has been great interacting with y'all. Best of luck with your season, if any of my thoughts about BYU are correct you guys are in for a very dominant season. Also if all of your opponents could have negative rushing yards at the end of the game that'd help me feel better about things. Appreciate it!

re: A more in depth break down of BYU for what it's worth. Super long post - apologies.

Looks like the only adjustments they decided to make were that they wanted to try to run the ball more - didn't do so effectively until late 4th quarter. Reports from camp had me thinking they were going to be a nice unit in the middle. If that same team shows up next Saturday I may try to find some LSU gear in the stadium after the first quarter to hide my shame. I don't hope they were overlooking their first opponent because I think that's bad team culture. But at the same time I hope they were overlooking their first opponent, cause if not they're going to get decimated. Guice is going to run rampant.

igoringa - so, this happened: Franklins BBQ Fire
So with Franklins having suffered a fire - any spots you might suggest? We were thinking of going to get Snows early. Pretty bummed about Franklins though.

re: How should we attack BYU's defense?
Posted by Jangus Roundstone on 8/22/17 at 6:12 pm to BayouBengal99
Lots of points to agree with here BayouBengal99. As a BYU fan I do have concerns about our depth on defense. We've transitioned from a 3-4 to 4-3 and with the loss of our LB Bernard, our whip backer is going to be one of our bigger safeties so it may look more like a 4-2-5. Hopefully coming down from altitude gives the players some wind they may not have had.
with how closed things are I don't think anyone really knows what's coming. My expectations would be that Canada wants to make sure that in a game setting the players are able to execute without penalty all the motions he incorporates, while at the same time not putting too much out there in a non-conference game.
It does seem that people have an expectation that Canada's offense is fast paced but just because there is constant movement doesn't mean they're getting 100 plays a game in. I think He has shown a good ability to vary pace just like his formations to keep opponents guessing. That being said I don't think they'll fire on all cylinders right out of the gate and hopefully we can capitalize if that's the case.
If we have to go too deep into our rotation things could get ugly but I think people will be surprised with how stout BUYs defense is. Running it right up the middle will probably be the least effective strategy, the edges and secondary in my opinion seems to be the most vulnerable. I expect there to be heavy emphasis in those areas.

Hopefully it's useful if you're starting from the beginning The LB group had a big loss as it was reported Francis Bernard will be redshirting. Adam Pulsipher looks to be the next guy up. He's serviceable but it's a big blow.

Appreciate it. Those names are phenomenal! Another great one is we have a Freshman named "Mango". I hope it's a great game irrespective of outcome, I'd hate to travel to Houston to see a yawner

Whilst I said it would be unfair to engage you further, I'll bite on this list one.
Insidious? You kill me DGM. I see two possible scenarios here: this is one of those situations where someone uses a word incorrectly because they don't know what it means, or your the worst informed person I've encountered. Sadly both seem equally likely.
Mormon facade of concern? Verification of the aforementioned ill-informed assumption. Based on what you've spouted here and elsewhere I truly do feel sorry for you. To carry around what you are showing to be in your heart would not be easy.
This will be the last I engage you, all I can say is that you are wildly uninformed about what it truly means to be a follower of the LDS faith. Again best of luck with everything, it seems you'll need it.

As someone whose mental capacity would be classified as... how'd you put it?
As a parting thought, I will apologize on behalf of the Mormon who wronged you, they obviously must have done quite a number on you. There are lots of studies out there suggesting one not walk around with so much hatred. You may want to seek some help overcoming whatever you've got going there.
Best of luck in the football season and recovering from your personal vendetta against millions of people you've never met.
quote:As a non-functional human being I guess it feels weird being the one to tell you to keep up. The bar of expectation was very low for you. If the aforementioned quote truly defines my intellect, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to continue to respond to you. You already seem to be fighting enough battles.
Mormons are legit retards. No functional human could possibly believe any of that bull shite without being severely mentally ill.

In that any physical representation of one's faith might help to remind them of their devotions... if we wanna call that magic let's do it!
Some are odder than others to be sure. I've been told from non-mormons they think i'm normal. They're probably just saying that to my face and really think i'm nuts!
I haven't seen a BYU team that I wouldn't call flawed in one way or another.
You headed to the game? I'm going to fly into Austin and hang out there for some BBQ on Friday and head down Houston way for the game. Pretty excited for football season to start.
