Yeah, their instruments are in tune when they play and the drums don't sound like a bunch of garbage cans. Fact......

Southern's band sounds like a group of 5 year olds trying to sing The National Anthem (i.e. it may be off key, but it's loud). That is aweful.

Why don't they record NECK and put it on the band CD?

SU plays with soul and style.. we don't play STIFF... If you listen to any RnB song, the song is sung with SOUL and passion.. Not all stiff and politically correct...lol

This is the reason why SU plays the way they play.. to mimic and capture to true soul and essence of what they are playing... If we wanted to sound like LSU, we would play marches and concert pieces in the stands all day.. But that's not what we do... SU is a "historically black school" with majority BLACK student... So we play music that is more noticeable to our culture... and RnB don't sing nor do their backup bands play STIFF like LSU..

No doubt LSU sounds good at what they do, but that's their preference and taste when it comes to marching band.

But you would hear those type of comparisons from musicians.. It's very clear most of these comments are filled with hate and most of the people on this board don't know what a minor, major, diminished or augmented chord is.

One of SU band directors "Carnell Knighten" arranged concert pieces and conducted LSU's band..

Life is too short to have so such hate for a person or program because their race differ from yours or because their style differ from yours.

LSU and SU is right down the road from each others and it's sad mostly LSU people are that way.. SU folks cheer for LSU, heck even keep their fingers crossed on a Saturday game in Mumford hoping LSU pull out victorious. But SU students and alum can come to a LSU site and read crap like this. But that's life, it's a bunch of ignorant hateful folk and they'll remain that way until the day they leave this earth. Sad but true.

SU band had their issues with hazing, and I guess we supposed to act like LSU never had any hazing issues, right?
One thing I will say is I respect the fact some of you show your true colors of how you really feel about SU. Even though if it's hiding behind a computer and video on youtube, but never in the faces of the young kids that attends LSU who have family right down the road attending SU.

Usually when folk post with such ignorance and hate, that only means their lives are miserable and they need someone to take it out on..

I see what Sid in Lakeshore mean about some of you. I'm just glad there is a disclaimer on this message board saying LSU do not endorse none of these race hate filled posts.
