CBS does not hate LSU

im not claiming that they do. i've said nothing bitching about no LSU home SEC night games. All i've said is im confused about why CBS would only do 1 night game a year. instead of allowing themselves the option for more. what's wrong with that? if they only had 1 that they wanted to put in prime time, ok. but to say we will only do 1 per year, period. thats what confuses me.

I agree, and as long as there are sellouts or near sellouts for these blasphemous day games there is no reason for him to do that. Mabe if he saw a half empty stadiums then he would be more inclined to lobby very hard for our beloved night games. Oh well!!!

I'm telling you that a Hawaii 5-0 repeat costs them almost nothing in comparison to the investment that is a live college football broadcast.

Solid point. They can get 3 Million people watching CSI Miami by essentially paying a $12/hr guy to pop in a video.

Or get 4 million watching a Bama/UF blowout that required flying in a staff of 30, trucking equipment, etc.

ok but im saying why is that their current contract to show only one? i can understand not showing one every week, but only 1 doesn't make much sense.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them (CBS) try to lobby for at least one flex game a year - giving them the option of picking up another prime time match-up over ESPN.

Anyone who thinks they wouldn't rather show the LSU-Bama game in primetime is nuts.

That wouldn't help our Tiger Stadium cause this year, of course.

this is what i'm trying to understand why they do not.

and if its not worth it for them to get this "4 million for bama/UF" then why continue to do the prime time games at all?

I guess ESPN has enough leverage to prevent it, at this point.

Exactly....Y.A. Tittle. I believe that CBS or ESPN for that matter would love that game....any network would. I'm sure CBS would like to air another night game each year. They probably were negotiated down to what they received, because ESPN is vying for the same product.

I guess CBS is forcing the sec to make them take those games to be shown?

Holy shite brah.

CBS pays big bucks to show sec games.

maybe they do and that is the reasoning.

i wish we could ditch CBS anyways as i pretty much hate everything about their broadcast. I feel ABC/ESPN is far superior in this than CBS regardless of time of broadcast.

Honestly, CBS makes more money showing their other shows versus sec games at 7pm

Just saying

There's not much difference in a 45-3 game as a 40-11 game or a 35-7 or 38-7 game.

who cares about that? night games at LSU are important to LSU fans and that should be more important to CBS than the money they make showing LSU. greedy bastards

This is why I don't visit the Rant. You have to be beaten in the head with a baseball bat to understand Money is the issue. Money funds our program. And then you complain about $40 for parking.

Most games, I can probably see how that might be the case. The biggest regular season college game in 10-15 years (if not longer), you can't convince me of that.

Trust me, CBS wants to have another night game in its belt.

I don't care about money or viewer ratings. I care about LSU football and Saturday nights in Tiger Stadium. CBS has screwed up a great thing and, if they keep control until 2023, it won't get straightened out for quite a while.

TheDoc, Thanks for fighting the good fight in this thread and posting the facts.
I'm not sure how many more times this stuff needs to be posted before people get it.
Can you put it in simpler terms maybe.

The realist in me understands that money is the issue and funds the program. But the avid football nut in me is pissed that traditions are being screwed with and changed.
