I agree to an extent. Only idiot umpires routinely fall for it. When it’s obvious it should tip them off to the fact that a given player does it all the time.

This is a terrible take. Anybody catching a football tries to sell it that it wasn’t a trap, just like an OF in baseball. NFL players try to sell a pass interference or hold at times. Basketball players will flop or sell themselves as being in the act of shooting when being fouled late in the game.
This crap happens in EVERY sport, and framing a pitch is low on the list of any sort of infraction. Hell, the momentum of a pitched ball will make the mitt move a bit anyway.
