This.

I know we have been facing a stacked box when talking about the running plays, but its the pass blocking that has been concerning, also. Last year we blamed it on Stud and his pass blocking scheme. Now we have a new OL coach and it hasn't appeared to get much better thus far.

"not saying he doesn't but have you seen the blocking? should he take sacks or scramble?"

Good point that the pass protect has not been great but Jennings does not "climb the pocket" and go through progressions. No biggie. He takes care of the ball pretty well and throws a pretty good deep and intermediate ball.

funny thing is commentators praised him for keeping his eyes down field while escaping

I didn't watch for it or review anything, so going off first impressions I guess you could say....

Seems he does keep his eyes downfield when bootlegging or scrambling wide, not so much between the tackles.

I guess it's ok; he may even be being taught not to look downfield when going upfield between the tackles. He's just narrowed the throwing window to the middle of the field, and throwing off balance without driving into the throw in the middle of the field is a recipe for sailing balls and interceptions.

And I do recall several fairly accurate throws +10yds while on the run, several for receptions.

At the very least he's been taught not to run backwards and throw weak balls (like in the Iowa game). Either scramble or step up and take the hit (with a stronger pass).

Agreed. I wish that if in fact AJ is our "guy", then CLM allows him to finish off the games. We didn't see BH until late in the 3rd, but if AJ is our guy, he needs all the reps he can get.

As we sit here today, MSU is the worst team in the SECw. Therefore, if we lose to them at home, that necessarily makes us the worst team in the SECw.

This is a must win game. If LSU loses this game, I think we will see a snowball effect of epic proportions.

True could be looking at a 7-5 season.

Agree, I was expecting so much more and excited to see LF run behind them, both have been lacking. The defense to me has exceeded my expectations. I thought the DL was going to be very disappointing but Chief has them running on all cylinders it seems.

I remember in the movie Rounders, Matt Damon says something to the effect of, "when you sit down at the table you need to locate the sucker...if you cannot pick out the sucker, then you are the sucker".

I kind of feel that way about this game, if we cannot beat the sucker, then we are the sucker.

That's exactly how I see it. He seems to be fine if he can get outside the pocket. Makes good decisions and good throws on the run. The area that needs improvement is staying in the pocket a little longer and find secondary receivers. On some plays the o-line did not give him a chance, but on some, he did not have to get out of the pocket.

I agree. Scary thing is that every team in the SEC West (and their fans) are expecting to have a chance to be in the SEC West championship mix.
Something has got to give and some good football teams are going to face losing 3 to 5 games in the West.

Honestly, can't remember a true freshman who was as impactful since B. McFarland.

I think HoneyBadger would disagree, he made plenty of plays his freshman year wearing 14.

And then watch all these pansies on the Rant expecting 7-5 and tDecline backpedal and jump back on the bandwagon as quickly as they can. We'll save you a spot.

Guidro, I'm guessing he was talking about DTs. Dorsey played well as a freshman as well, happy for DG so far.

Best secondary at LSU? They're good, but Did you see the 2011 team? Claiborne, tm7, Reid, and Taylor are quite possibly the best secondary ever in CFB. Not to mention Ron brooks coming in.

thats what I was thinking, or even Webster/TDaniels/Landry

I will say this, it might be a little tougher blocking someone when they know the run is coming 80% of the time...What needs to happen is that needs to be taken advantage of, which it has quite a few times...I think this is going to be a heart-attack close game year with the defense leading....Break out your asprin boys and hunker down...

Ever thought, the coaches are not giving him full-field reads yet? Most coaches tell young QBs to read one side of the field, and if it's not open, either dump it to the back, or take off.

Yes, we will not win any shootouts this year. The MO will be running the ball to shorten the game, and relying on a stellar defense to stop the opponents. We will see some vertical routes out of the WRs thou. Just not many passes to TEs over the middle of the field, which will make the rantards go crazy.
