held pretty tight against Bama in all of our "dark years" or how can I put it, the "Hallman Probation" we were put on. Now the cream has risen to the top.

I appreciate your post for what it is: an assessment of the Alabama program that's both honest & hopeful.

So this dominant LSU history against Bama I guess started when our present coach took over there?

he does have that one and only loss since 2000

What gets me is that some Bama fans STILL claim to have 12 National Championships. This comes directly from the 2008 SEC Football Media Guide. Don't even try to tell me that this official publication is inaccurate.

Alabama's National Championships: 1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1992. Maybe my Louisiana math is bad, but last time I checked that equals 7, not 12.

And as far as LSU not being a good program until Saban: here's more factual information.

Decade Wins Losses Ties Pct.
1890's 14 7 0 .667
1900's 48 20 2 .700
1910's 43 26 5 .615
1920's 49 35 6 .578
1930's 68 27 7 .701
1940's 57 35 5 .613
1950's 55 43 8 .557
1960's 76 26 5 .734
1970's 76 38 3 .662
1980's 70 41 5 .625
1990's 54 58 1 .482
2000's 88 24 0 .788
Totals 698 380 47 .643

Yes, LSU was down in the 1990's, but other than that has been a solid program. We will win our 700th game all time this season, and are definately worthy of a top 10 all time billing.

Uhh....you think? Most of us were responding to the guy that said outside of the Bryant years (Of course trying to take away a quarter century of football is a little loopy to me) LSU has been the all-around better program. There is all kinds of fail in that statement.

Bama is the top 5 cheating programs of all time. As far as I am concerned, Bryant and Bama never won anything legitimate

I wonder how many, if any, of the players on Bama's current team can remember the Tide's last NC? None were even close to being born for the Tide's second to last. LSU still has a player on the team who played on LSU's last two NC teams!

Bama is one of the great programs of all time. But the current century has belonged to the Tigers.

maybe bama should win at least win 1 championship (national or sec even) in the 21st century before you start throwing out words like dynasty chief.

They might have beaten Arky and Ole Miss already but we are the reigning National Champs and they have no right to talk unless and until that take that from our boys on the field.

History is a nice thing some times. To bad we do not live in it. The present is now, LEARN IT!!! I hate this fricking shite about we were. You use to be great and you might end up great again, but right now you are just another football team that has not demanded respect in the RECENT past.

Has Bama won a national championship that they haven't shared ever? No. shite, y'all had to share the 1925 championship with Dartmouth, and the 1926 championship with Lafayette. You want to point out the entire history, and there it is right there for you. Maybe after you get your arse whuppin on Saturday you can call up some Army football fans and talk about the good ole days when you used to battle for supremacy in the '40's.

By the way, name one 2 loss team that was better than us last year. You can't because there wasn't one with a tougher schedule who beat Ohio State and raised the crystal.

In response to your post, w have 3 undisputed (AP/UPI) NCs that I recall. You said that we've never had a NC that wasn't shared but we won outright in 1961, 1979, and 1992 (all undefeated years). We've also had years where we were undefeated and should've won but got screwed. However, all of that is the past and I'm proud of it but I only responded because you're facts are wrong.

In response to this thread, LSU is obviously the best program of the two this decade. It can be argued that y'all have the best program in the SEC since 2000. However, since 1983, I'd have to say that LSU and Bama are equal. The head to head record is pretty much even and y'all have as many SEC titles as we do but we have 1 NC during the 90s.

It's no secret that we have sucked this decade and programs like LSU and AU have made up serious ground on us. We dominated the west in the 90s.

BTW, if you're talking about stats, you need to include the WHOLE history. Coach Bryant was a huge part of our history and to leave that time period out is like saying that football didn't start until 1983.

Good luck tomorrow!

I never said that.

I said since Paul Bryant left Alabama, LSU has been the better program of the two by any conceivable measure.

And IF your mama had balls she would be your daddy. You can spurt out all the IF's you want to, fact is we hold the crystal for last year. Bama won't see a crystal football for many years to come.

Technically, your post is correct since 2000.

Any time between 1982 and 1999 breaks your argument.

From 1983 through 1999

LSU 114-88-5
Bama 149-69-1
