I'm gonna have to go with deffering and going on D first. I expect the stadium to be 70-30 screaming Tiger fans and to go out there and shut down Oregon and get the crowd and team hype nd then hopefully score on our 1st possesion sets up the snowball effect. what say you???

Seems to me that almost anytime we win the toss, we defer. But thats how I like it!

Defer, i agree, maybe we can get Thomas to pull a Geno Smith and line up wrong and call a TO in their first possession!

( i know Geno didnt line up wrong on WV's first possession)

Sam Montgomery catches the toss in mid air then tells the referees " let those bitches receive". Then he walks off

If you don't defer you screw yourself the opportunity of a double possesion at the end of the first half. It won't happen every game, but if you play your cards right, you'll get to take advantage of it. IMO you are a moron to not defer.

The first LSU coach that i remember doing this, or atleast when i started paying attention, was Dinardo. That dude never, ever received first.

^This. The offense can take a bit to get in rhythm. I'd rather them have the ball to start the second half when their feet are wet. Plus, at the beginning of the game the players are really pumped up. This usually plays in the D's favor as it improves their aggression and makes the O prone to mistakes.

Some high powered offenses like to go first, because they want to score fast and early and hope to play the whole game with the other team on the back foot.

But we are not that kind of team, and i always prefer to defer.

defer like a muuuuug..if we're on D first its an automatic 3 and out...jerry's house is gonna know what a true fanbase sounds like on opening day

sidenote: im going to the game without a ticket..what are the chances i can snag one outside the stadium for no more then 100?

Miles knows how to pick his spots. He'll play D.

But we could pull a Saban from the 09 NC game. Take the ball, offense stalls, and then fake a punt from our own territory!
