620 yards passing

7-3 is likely best case scenario

I don’t think 9-1 is realistic right now. I’d be ecstatic with 8-2. 7-3 or 6-4 seems more likely.

When's the last time Mississippi State was a team's only loss?

Why not?

I watched Saturday's game.

Why? Mathematically possibly

Highly implausible.

This year’s record is going to be 4-6, 5-5, or 6-4 unless something drastically changes from Week One’s display.

I have no joy in that, the games versus Auburn, Alabama, and Florida are each “L”s based on Week One.

Bama is going to be an ugly game. Same with Florida if we can't figure it out on defense.

Somehow let’s say we do go 9-1, do we make the playoffs?

Unless State goes 9-1 or better, that would mean we won the West and beat Alabama, Florida, and Auburn, so assuming we also won the SECCG, of course we'd make the playoffs in that unlikely scenario. UGA lost to 4-8 South Carolina last year, and had they beaten us in Atlanta they likely would have made the playoffs.

If we stay healthy, and our defense can learn some zone defense, I think 9-1 is possible. 7-3 is much more realistic, but there's not another team out there that just blows us away with talent. Experience, yes. Talent, no. We'll have to play lights out in against at least three upcoming opponents.

Absolutely. A 1 loss SEC Champ and defending National Champion would not be left out. The Mississippi State loss would be given a mulligan, especially since we were without the best DB in the nation. It wasn't just missing Stingley, it was the timing of the loss. There was no time to change the defensive game plan or coach up the replacement. Hopefully our lesson has been learned.

Terrible defense and an offense not good enough to carry it

Florida and Bama are legit contenders. Nix will be a seasoned vet by the time we see him. Auburn can be really good if Nix is as good as I think he will be. A&M and Ole miss are capable of beating us imo. It’s hard to say for me bec I still believe this team can be really good. But 9-1 isn’t happening. 7-3 would be huge after a game one loss
