Offense is typically a lot better than defense early in camp but the offensive stats say otherwise.

The defensive line is likely going to be the strength of the defense and we have an entirely new OL which is our biggest question mark.

I know BK wants to reduce soft tissue injuries but we need to be tackling. Our tackling the last few years has been horrendous. Wasting 7 practices by not tackling, while theoretically preventative, is not setting the team up for success.

Well today was only the 4th practice. They are doing to same thing as most other teams.

Being completely overlooked amidst talk of Pickett, Stamps, and Delane. I thought he was really solid last year. If anyone of those guys is our 4th corner, im extatic. We have upgraded the CB position so significantly in 2-3 years... The safety position is where we have desperately needed help. If Haulcey and Cooley are as advertised, with Perkins at Star and Spears consistently mentioned as a guy improving drastically... I mean we should have an incredibly strong secondary on paper. Yet to really prove it out on the field, but I feel really good about all the individual players. Just so thankful not to have a backfield of Gilbert, Burns, and Ryan

Better than him. Recruiting services missed big time with his 5-star ranking. Johnson is a beast.

Nuss stats are glaring for a couple reasons. Still nervous in the pocket with bad protection or not seeing the field.

And yet, LSU was Top 5 in the nation in converting 3rd and long. I also listened to one of the podcasts this week where the sports analyst talked to 2 AFC and 1 NFC scout and they said Nuss moves in the pocket better than Klubnik. Sounds strange considering Klubnik's stats, but these are the guys that get paid to analyze this.

I get what you are saying, but you aren’t going to see a bunch of negatives during the first week. Now if it continues through fall camp, you’ll know. I remember in 2023 when literally all of fall camp, practice reports were filled with how bad the DB’s were. Many people ignored it and then were surprised when the DB’s sucked during the season.

Nuss does move well in the pocket. You don’t need scouts to tell you that to be able to see it.

I agree, but there are a lot of fans that don't get that. It's just that he needs to see opportunities to take free yards when he sees open field.

From what I’ve read so far, it reinforces my thoughts so far. DL will be a strength of the defense, OL might make or break the season. A little surprised that the WR got somewhat locked down today, but I would honestly rather that than the other way around. Obviously on the 4th day of practice, things can and likely will change.

A lot of fans put any sort of “mobility” for a QB in the same category, when they are totally separate things. There are things that Nuss excels at such as pocket mobility, throwing on the run, etc. There are things that he is never going to be good at, such as running read options. And then there are things that he can do but needs to improve such as knowing when to run it and gain 4 yards instead of throwing it.

From watching clips, it seems there's a TON more emphasis on special teams this year.

Going to predict we see a big jump in production there. Don't remember a critical blocked FG since Bama 2008/2011. Think we get a couple this year.

QB depth is horrible according to all reports.

Pray for Nuss’ health before you go to bed every night

Most encouraging thing I took away from locked on lsu (moscona ) podcast on today’s practice was that Barion Brown is really really good and he has no idea how he wasn’t used more at Kentucky.
