I, for one, have been bitching about the Tulane series since it restarted
i live in new orleans so i like it
from what i have found it means more to people from new orleans, AND it is easy for me to catch an extra game
ETA- i'm pretty realistic in knowing we can't schedule ohio state, florida state, USC and texas every year OOC

My gripe with it is this: I want at least 1 good (VaTech) ooc game per year, and at least 1 decent one (SMiss). I think that's fair to ask for. It apparently is not easy to do. To get the good teams, you have to agree to a home and home. So what do we do? We lock in with Tulane, reducing our chances to only 3 AND at the same reducing our chances even more because we have to avoid the odd years because we would only have 6 home games. Yeah, we may do it in '09, but I promise it won't be a habit. That's why I don't like the Tulane series.

6 Home Games in 2009???
it sucks, i know, but its not that bad
No, it's that bad.
How about that awesome OOC HOME schedule? (USL and another yet to be named sisters of the poor rent-a-win school) Tulane is only a psuedo-home game if they leave it at night. Who the heck wants to attend a game against The Slime in the Dome during the day? (Like last years's diaster)

Several threads about our sucky ooc schedule,
Well besides Wash, 2009 isnt any better. Tulame and ULL are horrible games to schedule. I doubt I will even watch them on tv much less go.

I say, whatever it takes to get away from the "every OOC game is a crappy, glorified scrimmage" schedule they've seemingly wanted to serve up of late.
The way I see it, four garbage rent-a-win home games do not equal one DECENT game with another major conference BCS school.

I think it helps your strength of schedule to have more road games anyway. Why not beat Washington and Tulane on the road? The way LSU plays in Tiger Stadium, the only game we might lose that year is at Georgia. This puts us in a good spot at the end of the season regardless of the TBA game.

The 6 BCS computer polls will not give us any SOS credit for beating Tulane on the road, nor will any of the human voters.

I'm not at all disappointed. I think it's about damned time we started scheduling some good non-conference opponents in home and home series. Playing at Washington next year means we'll get to play them at home in a future year. That'll beat the hell out of beating the hell out of some Sun Belt cupcake or FCS team.
Absolutely. And the schedule will be juggled some in order to get the 7 home games they always say we need.
Now if they can get somebody decent for 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014 we may not look like complete chicken shite when it comes to our OOC scheduling.

Anyone else notice that next year we only have 6 home games?? Yeah, I'm pissed... Not to mention that one of them in ULL.
USC regularly does that...

If you can't complain about Tiger football to other Tiger fans, then who can you complain to? You can't say that you aren't at least a little disappointed.
Yeah, I can say I'm not disappointed, and I'm saying such. IMO, every team should play 6 home and 6 away games. Just because we have the best home-field advantage in the NCAA doesn't give us the right to say "Well, we're LSU and our stadium > yours, so screw you, you're coming to us."

The two following seasons are looking good, though. Lots of games at home!

Yes, it does mean that. Do you think we will go return a game to ULL? To Appy State? Get real. I'm pissed we have to play at Tulane.

if Washington backs out on the return visit like VaTech did
This is a misconception. Va Tech didn't back out. They were scheduled to play in BR in 2004 and postponed until 2007 for two reasons. One, they got offered essentially a home game against USC in the BCA game, and two, their schedule had changed significantly due to their joining the ACC. They fullfilled their end of the contract, just not at the original terms. It was good business for them to play in the BCA game and they needed home games because their original schedule had changed so much. A lot of people are quick to defend the LSU-Tulane series as good business, but when another school does it, it's somehow not acceptable. For example, LSU is going to get Tulane to come here in 09 instead of the game being in NO because we want a 7th home game. I'm not comparing Tulane to Va Tech, but still, we're going to amend the contract because it's good business.

What catches my eye is not the 6 home games, but the stretch of
Georgia
Florida
Auburn
Tulane
Alabama
Perfect setting to allow Tulane its slim chance of doing it to us

Odd year schedules suppose to be our better years. Doesn't look as favorable as in the past.
