My final thoughts on the meet moving forward:
1. We need our 6 10.0 SV Vaults next week.
2. Aleah needs to be in on bars instead of Livvy next week (her form gets deducted every week because of her leg separation vs Alyona who keeps her legs glued together so when she sticks it, it’s not deducted despite the shape in the air).
3. Kai needs a permanent spot on beam over Sami and Livvy needs a go at it next week if Haleigh is still not 100% so we can use her on floor.
4. Haleigh should do a front handspring to rudi on her last floor pass over the front double twist since she doesn’t need the extra difficulty.
5. I honestly don’t care if Bama wins SEC Championships again this year in Birmingham as long as we beat them in the regular season and as long as Florida doesn’t win

Bama is the 4th or 5th best team in the SEC this year. Last year was a fluke championship for them.

That may be so but they’re always massively overscored at home/in Alabama. Case and point: entire regular season and post season last year

I hate to sound bitchy but I cannot comprehend what possible reasoning there is to keep the front double full in her routine. Its just unnecessary.

I hope Aleah can start sticking her dismount on beam soon but not sure why she couldn't do something easier then a blind landing, its a 9.925-9.950 routine with a stuck landing.

Kiya looks so much more comfortable on beam since taking out the switch half from last year.

But really…can Sami really be outperforming Kai that much in training? Like it is absurd. Sami does not, and never has, have the fo district for beam at that level. I would t be surprised if in 50% of her routines she has large bobble/fall that puts SO MUCH STRESS on the rest of the lineup. Like I honestly can’t think of the last time we had a lineup where it wasn’t under pressure - maybe one meet last year? Other than that you probably have to Go back at least to finnegan days.

I think sometimes you have an athlete who is flawless or very good in practice but just not up to the standard when the lights come on. It’s a much different type of pressure.

I am appreciative for Sami stepping up when she first came in and helped out on beam. But considering this is her 5th year and is still having major inconsistencies, and having a lot of depth, I think it’s time to explore our other options. That spot would be better suited towards someone like Kai, Dunne, KJ etc. We know what we have out of Sami and some of these seniors, now is the time to build for the future. If the next kid falls, they fall. Got to try to start getting better in spots instead of just settling.

Kai did a terrific job coming in last minute not having competed in years. Hell KJ looked great in the intrasquad. You have options, sure they are inexperienced but you got to start somewhere. Enough with my rant, today was a great meet and building block moving forward

Also, so happy for Bridget tonight! Given her early season struggles on her series and coming right after Sami’s fall - what a great routine. I wish some of her form could have been cleaned up over the years to help her go 9.9+ (don’t get me wrong, she had cleaned up a lot since her sophomore year, but not quite enough for those sky high scores)

Didnt get to watch it live so I watched Saturday. Figured i'd post today in case somebody is maybe on. A few takeaways from one of the best meets in a long time.

So, Durante absolutely has to get off the beam. The other 5 made up for her but she is going to end up costing us in the long run. I get he maybe doesn't want to hurt feelings/the human element of it, but a change has to be made. Especially if that is what Kiya can bring to the table if you have a full lineup.

KJ is going to be a stud. Her eyebrows drive my wife nuts but who cares, she is going to be incredible. Really surprised me.

How does someone beat Florida? I mean they are just insanely good. I mean where is their weakness? Bars? I just was hoping for them to slip up in some way but you just knew they weren't going to because they are loaded at every event.

I think the judges are overscoring in general. The inconsistency in scoring you just expect to see, it's like the difficulty isnt being taken into factor. Haleighs floor had a massive deduction for her awkward step, but a dumbed down routine can have a really strong step and not get deducted nearly as much. Frustrating, as usual.

Florida tends to implode in post-season so you don’t have to worry about anyone beating them

I think for the most part we outperformed or at least tied them.

Thats true.

But their super senior is actually performing. We are starting one that it seems like just out of loyalty and not because of talent. That drives me nuts.

We did kill it though. We should move up a spot or two even with the loss though right? Just based on average. I thought the judges were pretty generous to them on vault and not so much to us on bars.

That's funny. The first meet my wife was like dear god her eyebrows are terrible. I didnt notice them. Now I cant help but focus on them

It honestly looks like she took her black socks and slapped them on her forehead.

But she's killing it so I don't care. And if I was 18 I definitely wouldnt care because her butt is nice

We stayed #5. Jay seems to have some kind of weird allegiance to Sami. It drives me nuts because she’s really only serviceable on bars. Meanwhile, it looks like Campbell can’t crack the only lineup she’s serviceable on. Desiderio has been killing it.

About what? I've watched every meet for years now and like every girl we have and Sami on beam is probably the biggest gripe I've ever had. And its a fair gripe. Or was it the eyebrows comment? But I also followed that up with a she's a badass gymnast comment.
