With his character problems, he needs a fast time to move him into 3rd/4th rd IMO

Coincidentally, this is the picture on the front page of nfl.com/combine:

With the Caption:

Damage control
Given his off-field issues, Tyrann Mathieu is among the prospects with the most to prove at combine.

However at the LINK TO THE STORY he is ranked #6 out of ten with the most to prove at the combine. Teo is #1...

I'll go under 4.50. He's been training with PP7.

No way in hell Mathieu runs under 4.5.

4.48

my question is always, what would they run with the helmet on. seems more appropriate. i bet TM7 has no drop off with the gear on.

that doesn't necessarily mean anything. everyone in the draft trains. it's not like patrick peterson is a better trainer than guys who do that for their career. not to mention, you can't really teach speed.

I realize you can't "teach" speed. But you can teach enough in terms of technique and specializing for one specific run (the 40) to make a noticeable difference in a player's time.

But will he teach him to be a better cover corner. I think those bigger NFL wr's will dominate him.

Correct. You can teach starting technique and running form, but Mathieu just isn't a 4.5 guy. He's more like a 4.55 guy.

I'm thinking the exact opposite.

If he has been working on speed training, then it's not unrealistic that he runs under.

He'll be drafted in the 3rd.

Mathieu is a hell of a tackler, especially relative to other CBs.

When would you want your team to draft Tyrann? If at all. For me, if he's there in the 3rd when Houston picks, I'd love to get him.

According to Scout, coming out of high school he ran a 4.62 in the 40....

He has put on a little weight and been training so I would say 4.57-4.59

I think he will be fine to cover the slot position. He excelled in the nickel position.
