You two are gonna honestly try to argue coach is telling Curiel no play, stand up in this moment?
Yes. It’s been explained to you 10 times what his exact signs mean. Jordan messed up.

Who told you that?

Lett hand up, right hand pointing at bag...that is SLIDE. Two hands up is on the bag. The things we say here with no basis in fact is mind boggling. Curiel read the ball poorly, it was hit 110 or more, it got out there quick.
Incorrect

In no level of baseball is this remotely true. Do y’all just say shite on here with zero factual basis?

quote:Nice shot, and yes, they will. Jordan is clearly letting him know there is a play coming and to get down. Curiel has taken that base 100s of times in his life. My thought is he read it further n the gap and thought it was an easy take of the bag. He is young. But that was on him.

Please quote the right person.

quote:So you believe that Jordan has read the play, after seeing this situation countless times, sees the throw enroute and santed him gliding n standing up? This isnt youth baseball where the coach gets down and pounds the ground. He was pointing down....He in no way wanted him standing up and on the bag.

My bad clicked the wrong one.

Curiel was most definitely, 100% told to slide. Lett hand up, right hand pointing at bag...that is SLIDE. Two hands up is on the bag. The things we say here with no basis in fact is mind boggling.
These two sentences in the same reply are

The one thing I can say "most definitely, 100%" is that none of you are privy to LSU's baserunning signs.

2 dropped balls in right then left that should have been caught. I blame the players. One catch likely wins this game after the debacle at third.
Even if we don’t make the catch at the wall in left, if we just play the bounce properly we hold the runner at 2nd. That means he advances to 3rd instead of coming home on the wild pitch and we still would have had an opportunity to get out of the inning.
Sometimes the safe play is the smarter play.

Yall keep posting that image. Jordan's arm was up for the SLIGHTEST moment and he immediately dropped it and started motioning for a slide. In fact, you can't really see him even raise it in the video. b/c it was so brief.
A third base coach, squatting and motioning to the bag with both hands the way Jordan was doing, was telling Curiel to slide. Jordan did the same with Braswell and he slid. Watch the end of the video you linked. Jordan was using both hands to tell him to slide.

I didnt know how to post a video grab like that, but these guys are arguing on almost literally a single frame from a favorable angle.
I just figured noone could be idiotic enough to argue coach was making a stand up call in that situation.
But apparently we have a bunch of coaches of D1 players here on the rant.

You had to upvote your own post. Nobody can believe this as it’s false.

I also think the catcher could have done everything in his power to block the game winning wild pitch. He just put his glove out, should have acted like a hockey goalie on that pitch. Maybe that is why he doesn't play much.

What about the off-speed fastball right down the middle served up by Cowan in the bottom of the ninth? That pitch had "mistake" written all over it

He specifically held his left hand up telling him not to slide
It looks to me like he's down low and telling Curiel to slide to the right side of the bag. But he could be giving him the stop and point meaning to stop at third standing up. Its hard to tell from this angle.

that the tag was still on Braswell briefly as he overslid the bag.
That’s what they called, but it sure looked like the tag and the contact with the bag ended simultaneously. Worth a challenge IMO.
