It’s abysmal this year and not getting better even in P MAC. Is Graves that much of a defensive liability that he can’t come in 5-7 minutes a half and stretch the D a little bit. Wasn’t WW really Hugh one of the new guys being deadly in pre-season from beyond the arc?

If not we need to max out at 10/ game so we don’t waste possessions.

Yes

Yes, Hyatt. Knocked down big threes against OM and Tejas

It’s not our game. WW best attribute in my mind is identifying his teams strengths and coaching those aspects up. Our ability to get to the rim , crash offensive boards and shoot free throws are as good as anybody’s in the country. It’s who we are it’s how we win.

Hyatt was the player he was really high on. He struggled early, but is 7-17 in the last 9 games.

Or how about we continue to run good offense and take good shots as they are available in each possession. Given that we’re in top 16 in scoring in the nation and top 6 in offensive efficiency, we seem to be doing something right.

Could we shout better from behind the line, absolutely. Which player are you taking off the court to give Graves minutes. He is an excellent shooter but he is not a better all around player than any in the current rotation or Charles Manning.

You are so correct. Lack of 3 point shooting has caused us to lose many SEC games. I think if Will Wade would have played Graves we wouldn't have nearly as many loses in SEC play.

I think there are a few interesting things to remember about Hyatt.

1- He may be a redshirt freshman, but he reclassified to an earlier class, he should actually be a Freshman this season. He was also a highly rated recruit before reclassifying.

2- He missed all of last season due to a knee injury, then also missed some time at the start of this season because of an injury.

I think we're starting to see a guy that's very talented but was way behind the 8 ball start to get it in gear. He and Manning could be big pieces down the stretch.

Despite poor 3pt shooting, this team is top 5 in offensive efficiency. I have no idea why anyone wants to mess with it at this point.

Pound the paint, pound the glass and get to the ft line. It's working for this team.

We are good enough to win most games without 3s.

Watching teams bomb away from three is fun for the casual basketball fan. But, as LSU has proven over the course of two years, the ability to score at the rim and shoot FT's is more reliable. It's not by coincidence this team has won 12 straight ROAD games in SEC play. Dunks, layups, and FT's "travel". Sure it would be nice to supplement some better 3 point shooting in there. And it would probably make it a bit easier to score inside. But putting points on the board isn't a problem AT ALL for this team.

11th in the league at 30.7% from 3

1st in the league at 77.5% from FT line

Kind of a strange dichotomy.

I didn’t say it has cost us games yet but it sure as hell will. Your reply shows you don’t have credible knowledge of basketball. If you suck at shooting 3s this late in season you quit taking so many. You go to your strengths as they produce a higher yield aka points and you out score more opponents aka wins.

We have individuals that can hit the 3. Javonte, Mays, Watford, Days all have the ability to do it, as do manning and Hyat. Problem is that it’s never consistent and it’s either one of them or none of them doing it in one game.

And that's exactly what they've done in this winning streak.

It may be a dichotomy...but what makes it strange?

One shot is an uncontested 14 ft shot..the other is a 22 ft shot that is contested or at least rushed. The 2 really have nothing to do with each other.

We lead the SEC in 2 pt. shots made. We crash the offensive boards and get a lot of points in the paint

Something strange about this team: missing 3's can very often turn into a good possession for us because we're aggressive on the offensive glass and long rebounds can go our way more often than closer shots. Missing 3s is the reason we rebound so well
