Does it? Regionals and super regionals are what you get you to Omaha. You aren't guaranteed a friday, saturday, sunday type series in the supers and the regionals are a different format all together.

Yet, none of them are Thursday, Friday, Saturday. They either start on Friday or Saturday (ignoring weather issues).

Regionals are basically a 3-game series. As is the Super. Neither start on a Thursday. CWS is a whole different animal.

We have this same discussion every single year but usually not until the week before the last SEC series since it's always Th-Sa. And of course, there was last year when we started Poche on opening night (his "last" at tBox) and could never find a good time to get Lange on Fridays.

And the argument is the same. Yes, starting pitchers typically need/want a weekly routine. Every day between starts is the same. When that is shortened, it makes things much more difficult. Have you seen our April schedule? It's going to be brutal. 15 games in 23 days.

We play at UF and host aTm at the end of March. That gets us into April:

7-9: @Arky
11: ULL (WPC)
13-15: Ole Miss
18: Lamar
21-23: @UK
25: @Tulane
27-29: @Bama

We play every Tuesday plus 2 Th-Sa series. Only 4 of the 15 games are at home.

Rotations go on short rest.
Six days between appearances instead of seven? Nah....no big deal.

Besides, in three of the Thur-Sat series this season the next series is Fri-Sunday so the pitchers get 8 days between starts for those. And in one Thur-Sat series the next series is also Thur-Sat so the pitchers get the usual 7 days between starts.

If this thread was on the Political Board it would be called "fake news."

It is a big deal in terms of routine.

Rest is not fungible like that. An extra day a week later does not reduce the strain put on the arm in the short week before. All it does is frick up the schedule for both weeks. Is it a huge deal, no, not a huge one. Is it something to contend with? Yes. Is it bad for the fans that attend games, yes. Is there anything that can be done about it? No.

5 instead of 6*

Again, 7 days instead of 8. But if you look at it the other way, we have 3 Th-Sa series following Fri-Sunday series all 3 of which have a Tuesday game between.

aTm following UF, Ole Miss following Arky, Bama following UK.

And this only helps the "routine" argument because we're back and forth so much.

"Between appearances," ell, not "days of rest." But if it makes you feel better, okay.

This cannot be emphasized enough. It's part of the reason that MLB teams are putting sleep experts on the payroll (seriously).

I think most people would read "between appearances" to mean the number of days between each appearance, yes? But, I digress.

The point is the change in routine. From March 24-26 to the last SEC weekend, pitchers will be going back and forth on the number of days they rest if we keep the rotation the same.

I don't really care that much about what days the games are but having to travel from Monroe every weekend to watch LSU, it effects what games I can watch. Probably won't be able to make any of the Thursday games so for me it does suck
