How vague is it when going for 2nd degree battery? Not too vague. This guy has medical rights as well. Are we going to ask for his birth certificate next? Wouldn't be surprised with a certain population down here in LA.
Chill brah
It's like saying "the guy drives a red toyota"

When was the last time you had a broken bone anywhere in your body? Vertebrae are a little bit important to the human body, and broken ones are a cast iron bitch.

No need to be a jerk about such things.
Nobody calls them "wings" anyway. I think you get my point.

I would want to see the radiology report and look at the images before believing anything an attorney was spouting off about. No one has any idea what the real injuries are from some Attorney's comments.
I have given depositions where the plaintiffs attorney is carrying on about serious injuries etc. I look at my records and say WTF is this guy talking about.

The police announced it today. Sorry, it is real.

What does the average police person know about reading radiological images? Not saying they arent real. Just trying to point out that fractured vertebrae could mean just about anything coming from non medical sources.

Congratulations. Wish I could say the same, but still fortunate enough that when someone starts a thread asking how bad 3 fractured vertebrae is, that I can't speak from experience. Sometimes the question is more revealing than any answer could possibly be.

umm...radiological images are read by Doctors. Doctors write medical reports about what they have seen in the radiological report. Police officer reads medical report.
You really need to step back for a minute.

Maybe if they said "back injuries", but fractured vertebrae is pretty specific.Posted on 8/24/11 at 12:10 am to drexyl
Anyone who thinks a broken neck or back is some kind of big deal is obviously a LSU-hater.

This is a vertebra. Find how many areas could be fractured. Not broken, fractured.
My dad had 3 broken vertebrae when an oak tree rolled on top of him. He's lucky to still be walking.
There is a difference between broken and fractured.

When talking bones, a fracture is a break. A break is a fracture.

True..... to an extent.
A hairline fracture is a break, that is correct.
But to have 4 vertebrae actually pulverized...... beyond a doubt, that is broken.
What I'm getting at, is that a fracture is something that, given time, will mend on it's own.
I'm just trying to show the signifigant difference between the two.
My dad's L1-L5 vertebrae are forever one. It's one big vertebrae now.
He had to wear a brace and had 2 stainless steel braces wired into his spine for 2 years.
They have since been removed but he still has them. And yes, he's in "the field."

The extent to which the vertebrae are fractured is not really that significant. Small fractures can cause chronic pain over a lifetime, so the diagnosis of a fracture is bad news for whoever inflicted the injury. It helps the plaintiff's case that the injury is consistent with the assault that was described by multiple witnesses.
The victim being a marine + vertebrae fracture is why this will not be swept under the rug.

This is absolutely correct. I wanted to point out the difference because most people here think "broken vertebrae" = broken spine, never walk again, etc....
Not saying it isn't messed up and that it never should've happened, that isn't what I'm saying at all.
Just pointing out the difference.
Why did you have to be an AU fan?
