LSU 19-15 over Auburn. The famous "Fire Game." We were sitting in the NE Endzone and couldn't tell what was happening as the fire was outside of the SE endzone. PA guy kept coming on reassuring everyone that things were fine, etc. Folks in our section were like "what's he talking about?" Then the flames and smoke got higher.

As an aside, when Auburn went for two at the end, had they converted with less than a minute left,in all likelihood this would have become the first OT game in SEC history. Overtime was in its first season.

Raion Hill

The fire itself

My family and I were there. It was an amazing experience. I didn't go back until 2004. That one sucked, the way it ended.

Unstoppable that night. 13 year old me was lit!

Raion may have had the single best game by an LSU defensive back, scoring 8 points and having 137 return yards, both in huge moments.

Those late 90s Auburn were so nerve racking. Always mid-Sept. if we won, we had a chance for the West.
96 and 98 at auburn were both damn good. Auburn had been an impossible place to win before those years it seemed for us

We were there and could see the fire from our seats.

It was a pretty spectacular view knowing that the stadium was not in jeopardy.

The game was also an awesome experience for my 1st time at Auburn!

Was there as well. Remember it poured late morning or early afternoon so we just sat in the car at drank heavy. Same day think the 230 game the at the time the sec game of year with Florida and Tennessee playing with the usual gator victory.

Didn't Raion have a rod in his leg too or am I thinking of another Tiger DB?

I give it to Tyrann Mathieu in the SECCG against Georgia in 2011.

I worked for the campus TV station and was on the field that night. Great win. And if I remember correctly, Hill was not the starter; someone was out with an injury.

Lot of talent on that team: Booger, Fanaca, McClure, Faulk, LaFluer…

That was a fun game to watch.

Side note observation, at 3:22 La state trooper had bullets in belt which tells me he carried a revolver still. Even after the fbi shootout ya boy stayed old skool
