Is there any reason this team can't be as good or better? This year's defense is going to be nasty but 2011 was as well. Special teams looks to be back on track after years of wtf moments. Offense you have JJ or Lee vs Burrow. You almost have to give Burrow the nod on this one. I'm still cautiously optimistic but I think if everyone falls into place this might be one of the best Tiger teams we've had in awhile.

2011 was electrifying. This team has talent but not on 2011 level

No. Offensive line and RB depth not the same. Defense comparable but 2011 was still better

Our punter had more swagger than the star of almost every other team that year. I'm not sure this team will get to that level, but I'm excited to watch them try.

The simple answer is, we don’t know. It was only one game.

The only reason people say 2011 was great is because we went undefeated in the regular season. But they had no clue how great they were, even after Oregon.

You can’t compare the two until the end of the season.
Can they be just as good? Sure. No one can argue that, right now.

Unbelievable..... can someone please make a post about giving O a contact extension right now because they beat an over rated Miami team with no offense???

2011 had like 7 nfl d lineman alone

We don’t have an OL player as good as Greg Shaw was that year and he was a 6th lineman.

Not near the same level of talent imo. That team was one of the best of all time

LSU rotated like 10 offensive linemen in 2011. This o line isn’t near what that one was.

Wing was the GOAT

Add in OBJ, Jarvis, Mo Claiborne, and Honey Badger and we totally had the most swag of any team in the nation. Not nearly the same level of talent or swagger on this team, but lets give them the whole year first. Cole Tracy started to get a little swagger throughout the game, especially on the 54 yard kick.

That game last night was eerily reminiscent to one other in LSU history. The year was 2011 and it also happened to be a season-opener in the same stadium.

Fact is we don't know what we've got with this team. They could be 2011 good or 2016 good. I'd be surprised by neither outcome.

We have arguably the best LB and CB in the nation. Our starting DL ain't too shabby either.

Suffice it to say I think declaring this team inferior to any is premature until they show us what they're really capable of.

This is the first season-opener since 2011 against a good team when I knew we were going to pummel them.

That was also the last year I felt we might win the Alabama game. I will go on record now as saying I predict the streak ends this year in TS.
