I know Eric Walker & Caleb Gilbert, could be starters, but is there somebody that we signed that could be The Sunday Starter, because Zack Hess is Lights Out coming out of The Pen.

Because he's unhittable as a closer(could be our Best Closer ever)

I'm not in any way saying I don't want him as a starter. But being a lights out closer doesn't necessarily mean you'll be an effective starter. Obviously he deserves a look and will get a look as a starter

I don't think so. As fun as it is to see Hess as a closer, he'll be more valuable as a starter next year.

I've got no problem with that, but Rick Vaughan, has nothing on Zack Hess.

I'm just hoping we avoid an Ott 2.0

If Walker is out long term after MRI it may be an all new staff next year.

I think you would have to make Hess a starter if Walker is out. Gilbert will be given every opportunity to win a job.

Peterson will get a long look as well.

Someone from the newcomers will have to emerge as both a starter or two and in the bullpen.

Storz had arm issues this spring (why he fell in draft) so I'm not sure if he will be ready on the mound.

Yeah it's really not fair to Hess but I can't help but think of Ott when this question comes up

Have Sanders coming from CC.
Apparently he's touching 95-96mph.

Why the hell would you want to keep in the pen? Build up his stamina and let the kid bring the gas. He can throw 95mph consistently if he does the right conditioning programs and keeps his arm healthy.

For same reason Rivera was not a starter for the Yankees and will be in Hall of Fame as the best reliever of all time.

You must have a solid starting rotation in college to get to Omaha. You can get by with two studs and one serviceable Sunday starter. It's pointless to have a stud closer if we don't have the lead in the 9th inning.

If Hess can make the transition to starter, then that's where he needs to be. It's not a coincidence we made it this far this season with Lange, Poche and Walker.

Mariano Rivera threw 1 pitch, a cutter, 99.99% of the time.

He wouldn't have been dominant as a starter.

we have 3 outstanding freshmen pitchers this year. hopefuly, we can come up with at least one more for next year. two would be better.

I'll answer a question with a question. Do you want Hess to pitch 7+ innings on the weekend or just 2 or 3 or maybe even none if the games aren't close?
