Watson needs to fill out and Hess needs to prove he can start. It's not an insult, but there are some questions there that need to be answered.
They'll need to be high picks, talking top 75 or so to really be a threat to leave. So they will really need to build on their freshmen seasons.
Like Deichmann proved they may benefit heavily from that 3rd year and lose no leverage.

Florida and us play for a national title, UF wins. We end up with only 2 on a pre-season AA team the following year and they end up with 5.
Some of the players that have on that team are name recognition. Schwartz shouldn’t be on the list. He has done nothing but go down in stats the last 2 seasons from his freshman season.

Exactly, people will be surprised at how highly thought of Watson is.
Hit for Avg-yes
Power-yes
Speed-yes
Glove-yes
The only thing that could be considered average is his arm which will get stronger, yes he has to live up to what he did a year ago but with how fluid he plays that doesn't look like it'll hold him back.

Watson needs to fill out

Hess needs to prove he can start.
quote:Do you not know how the draft works? Every player has questions, especially HS kids, yet they are often taken early on ceiling alone. Both Hess and Watson have proven they can play at an elite level vs other elite players. Way less of a risk.

quote:Deichmann had WAY more to prove than these two. Mainly to prove that he could play a position and not strike out so much. ETA: He succeeded with one; not the other. But his power numbers were too high to ignore. And that's after his sophomore season; not freshman.

no doubt. Just dont think he gets drafted high enough to warrant an early leave if he proves he cannot start. That means he probably has a shaky year and you see him again next season.

and we can't say what these guys have to prove until they play this year and prove they were what they were last year. That's my point. Draft eligible Soph's have a ton of leverage and more times than not they return to campus. These guys are talented but i dont think they are knocking on MLB's door or anything to say they are gone for sure

My gripe is with you saying they aren’t in a position to leave. What you just described is exactly what that means. They play as well or better this year and they’re going to get drafted very high.

i know how that sounded and it wasn't to slight their talent. I think we see Watson back on campus for sure unless he blows up like Benitendi did as a soph. He needs another year in the weight room. Ive seen him IRL recently. He's a little thicker but not much.
Hess is a wildcard, i think his starting experiment will really have to go well for him to bolt.

I dislike JJ Schwartz. That whole team for all that matters.

Florida returns Singer, Byrne, and Kowar.
