What Gorsuch went thru really was traumatizing. She got nailed in the face by a softball and it shattered her face and it took a shite load of painful surgeries and a long recovery.
If you have felt a softball before you cringe to think about it. Plus In softball you are much closer to the batter, distance from circle is much closer

Oh I know... I've been hit throwing BP many times. Finally figured out that I'm too old to throw without a net in front of me... but I still got hit in the leg once this year and it hurt for 2 weeks... lol

As we saw last night and Monday, great pitching wins championships. You can go out and recruit all the best position players you want, but of your opponent is the best pitcher in America, her offense can win games with a run or two.
See Lorenz and Kvistad two of the best hitters in America coildnt do anything with Lowary pitching.
Maybe the recruiting is ranked on position players as well as pitchers, but a top pitcher like Lowary and Gourley can deal with them 90 percent of the time.

i've been behind an L-screen and still been hit on the top of my head a few times. I've had seams of a ball imprinted into my leg for quite awhile catching for one of my pitchers.

The rational answer is that the coach, who sees her practice everyday, didn't see fit to play her much. The irrational answer is that the coach hates winning, plays favorites, and intentionally holds certain players down.
I believe there was some reason behind the scenes that we are not privy to. Maybe she wasn't a good practice player, maybe she was late for meetings or classes. Nobody knows.
The most annoying thing about this deal all year is that people were quick to throw out a long list of things she did in HS, records set, etc. That crap means ZERO once you hit campus. Playing at Parkview and playing in the SEC are two different things...and some kids don't automatically make the transition as fast as we would like.

I wonder how big is the role of parents in these situations, especially in the sport of softball. At LSU, I have noticed that parents become so invested in this level and tend to be instrumental in the decision making of their athletes.
I do not know the parents of Sydney or Nicky, but I just hope this is a decision they want rather than it being a result of parental frustration. No matter what I wish the best for both student-athletes.

Serret walked out there and right out the box was impressive. Landry too.
High school pitching often does not expose or exploit bad batting mechanics. SEC pitching does.
I think if Gorsuch cam adjust and gain accuracy she will be pretty good. Smith was amazingly accurate.
I did go and watch the Coccamise girl on YouTube. Looks solid. I aint crazy about her batting style but she has a good swing.
Lets face it, success has spoiled us. We need to be thankful for where we finished this year. We didnt have the team to beat Florida or Oklahoma but nobody else could beat them.
Next year we got our pitchers back.
Going to be interesting to see what Beth sends out as the starting team next year.
I am optimistic we can return to OKC.
