6 games in...were you more confident in LSU running the table in 2011 or this season?

Hell no. That 2011 team was special and that was known from early on

2011. We all knew after the Oregon game that the team could be special. Plus with that defense we knew we wouldn't lose because the other team couldn't score.

This team is great, but it just feels like between special teams and the defense not being absolutely stellar, it's possible we might not get a bounce and it will cost us a game.

During that 2011 season I always thought that Jefferson would ultimately grow into a better quarterback, and thus, coupled with the best defense in the nation, we'd be unbeatable. Sigh.

2011 Easily one of best teams in all of College Football history... Just ran out of gas and got out coached at the end. A 12 game run with 9 games against ranked teams. Never anything close to that. A 13th game against a 10th.

Half way through the season, Jefferson wasn't playing.

But for me it is definitely 2011. The defense and special teams were fabulous. It was ST that turned the Oregon game around (HB7 as a punt gunner, stripping the runner and scoring a TD).

If you gave me Rashard Robinson on this team, a healthy jalen mills and our punter was good, I'd listen to an argument for this team over 2011.

This team isn't near the team we had in 2011. Maybe this time next year we can compare. We were absolutely killing people in 11' with a much more difficult schedule. We might be better on offense but that was the best special teams and defensive play I have ever seen from LSU. We constantly played a short field that year.

Agree whole heartedly. Coaching let the team down in 2011 and believe the players on this team are heading for a similar fate. Special teams spotted FLA +7 (muffed punt and punt return, offset be fake FG) and the secondary is not the strength it usually is.
Fingers crossed the underlying issues are fixable with the current coaching staff and improve over the second half of the season.

I personally think this year is cloae to our 2010 team. We new we would be a good team, we just didnt know how good until the end of the season were we set it up for 2011. I think our 2016 team is going to be something fierce with the way our offense is improving this year. Give Steele and coach O a year to get the depth our linebackers and dline need and its gonna be nasty. Also in 2016 we are going to have a different special teams coach who isnt a moron.

This is correct. They completely dominated the winners of multiple January bowls. Not to mention allowed seven punt return yards the entire season. That isn't an average per game - it was total yards over the entire season.

Unfortunately Bama also had a freakishly special team that year.

ETA: Not to say anything bad about the current team, they're very good so far too apparently. But 2011 was, well, different.

2011 dominated Oregon first game of the season. That team was special

If we get similar success this year, It will be in a totally different style.

I want this hat!

I have one of the Patriot 19-0 perfect hats. I love stuff like this (although I'd much prefer if we had won)
