I was in the Navy in the Persian Gulf for that game. I got off watch mid-second quarter and the game was on AFN. (Armed Forces Network) and I was excited I would actually get to watch the game.

the temperature got into the 30's.

I walked out on my front porch after the game and there was a thick blanket of snow in my front yard.

Yeah I was at a party in West Monroe fired up watching the game and about halfway through the 1st quarter the signal goes out. Nothing so we turned on the radio pissed off! Finally got it back in the 4th quarter to watch a great win.

Come to find out some drunk hit the telephone pole in front of the ABC station in Monroe. ??

Great game.

I was in Kosovo for the first nine games, then got to see the next three (Ark, Aub, Tenn) in person. I had to be back at Ft Campbell during this game, but I watched it on TV and it was such a badass game. I think LSU was up 34-7 at one point.

It was a special night because I grew up watching the Sugar Bowl every year since the 1987 season and wishing LSU would get there and finally, it happened.

Had moved back to Dallas. A buddy of mine called to say another friend needed to move that week. I went down to BR to help out and got paid with a Sugar Bowl ticket! Great night!

The demand for tickets was so high here locally some enterprising LSU fans found out when the Illinois ticket allotment sale for their fans went live and they were swarmed with out of state credit card orders from Louisiana. Don’t think they put any safeguards to prevent LSU fans from scooping up a high percentage of their tickets until it was too late…good times.

If Rohan Davey needed some blood, I’d give him some of mine. I’d make the long trip to Baton Rouge to make that happen. That man has given me immeasurable joy. I’m not joking. I’m not being hyperbolic. I love Rohan Davey.

I remember buying tickets on the Yahoo ticket site was like EBay. Good seats on the 40. Spent most of the day sitting at Le Booze at the Royal Sonesta. Was a cold and rainy day. After the game no cabs so wife and I a walked all the way back to the Royal Sonesta. Not my best idea.

That was a fantastic game. Rohan to Reed all night...the score looked close at the end but iirc Tigers led 41-7 at one time. Huge win over a 10-1 Illinois club that was tied for first place in the Big 10
