I was in Mexico on vacation and the best I could do was watch some obscure sports channel like CNN Sports and wait for the score to come on the ticker.

Me and a friend had no tickets. Made signs and stood outside the Dome parking lot. Was so cold and rainy it was miserable. A sugar bowl committee member saw us and had pity on us and sold us some extra tixs he had at face value because he couldn't scalp. 45 yard line, unbelievable game. I remember that we were like one of the last vehicles to get on the Bonney Carrey before the shut it down going back home because of ice/snow. Amazing day.

Who remembers Saban getting on the ref's mic mid game and telling our crowd to stop throwing bottles onto the field while celebrating because it was going to result in a penalty?

Snowed pretty hard that night. Went to the Indian mounds after the win and slid down them on cardboard boxes. Fun night for sure.

I watched that game with a bunch of Illinois fans at the lobby of a hotel in NOLA. They had booked there trips but a bunch of LSU fans snatched up all of their teams designated tickets. Fun times.

Ahhh, the good ole days. I was able to smuggle in 2/5 of Crown, one in each sleeve of my jacket. We made friends with a lot of Illini folks that we were sitting amongst. Ro was so good that night.

“Kurt Kittner is going to light your arse up like a bad batch of gumbo.”

- Illinois fan 2002

quote:

After his junior season in 2002, Lloyd declared his eligibility for the NFL Draft. Of the seven children in the Lloyd family, he was the only one who started a career without finishing college. According to Brandon, "I saw [my mom] cry was when I told her I wasn't going back to school. She just thought that was the end of everything."

- 2002 is so different from now, it might as well have been 1902.
